Okay, the picture I'm seeing looks like long-haired chihuahuas. They're cute too!
My son has an Australian shepard who is the smartest thing I've ever seen in dog clothing! BUT he's high energy and gets bored pretty easily. These are dogs that need a job. If left on their own, they think of things to do. Not things that you'd like them to be doing as a general rule! My son's is a terrible digger and chewer if unsupervised.
My brother had a boxer. He was calm and sweet. Learned all the things he was supposed to pretty easily. BUT, that breed doesn't tolerate the cold well.
Listen to what people have to say, but in the end, pick the one that "speaks" to you.
Good luck to you and the new pup. And bless you for getting a shelter dog.

I like seeing people adopt animals from shelters! :)
Abused boxers are difficult to gain trust,,, australian shepards are not usually as timid and adjusts better. Aussie pups are also quite smart! and beautiful dogs that turn into a great family dog

Both have very high energy. Boxers are very strong, and so are aussies as well. They are actually very similar. You should really do something where (if the shelter lets you) you stand in an area and have someone let the dogs out and whichever one stays close to you the most. If not, then Boxers' coats are easier to care for... (?)

Australian shepherds need lots of exercise, but they are beautiful. If you can give the dog lots of exercise, I vote Aussie. If not, boxer.

BOXER! I love Boxers. Just be prepared to give him lots of attention. He'll need to exercise a lot. Good luck!

I love boxers. you should get a boxer. Australian shepherds need a lot of excise they are used as herding dogs so were bred to endure a lot of running.

I think that Australian Shepard has such a pretty coat, so I would pick him. But I guess it depends on which dog gets along with you better.

Go and spend time with the both, but not together and then choose. But right off I would go with the Australian Shepperd. Good Luck! And congrats when you choose!!!

Looks wouldn't do it for me, it's about the response, who "clicks" with you, spend the time with the dogs, see which one picks YOU! Glad to see you're going to rescue a dog!
