Why is the news "propaganda machine" still reporting nothing but negativity from Iraq? They had no US casualties to report so instead of focusing on the positive in the Middle East, the bullshitss media ran a story on previous US casualties, showing their Hummves blown apart., airing old footage that did not even correspond to the story, they could not even mention that no one was killed in Iraq today, because that would be positive..HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE HONORABLE MR. BUSH

Because the news organizations love dirty laundry. And the American public feed on the bad news they report. It's a real shame that the public at large don't hear daily reports about the amazing job our troops are doing. It's no wonder so many people are against the war, all they hear about, every single day, is how many have died today, this week, this month, so far this year, since the beginning. I realize it's war but there are good things to report. I like your example of the media NOT reporting a day without American casualties but instead digging up old bad news. Shame on them.
ADD~ Today is Bush's birthday? How sad is it that I watch news programming all day and didn't hear it is our Commander in Chiefs birthday until you mentioned it on Yahoo!? Happy Birthday Mr. President!

Here's why:
1. The media hates Bush and will do anything to make him look bad.
2. If they did show something positive their ratings and viewers will go down.

Most media outlets are liberal, and always eager to jump on the governments mistakes and blemishes. And Like everyone else said, its apparent that people would rather watch carnage, than a new school opening in Iraq.

Because the media perfers to stir the boiling pot of people who want something to point out wrong with us being there.
You dont hear anything good from there and it isnt because there is nothing.
There is alot of good there and the media looks over it and shows everyone the bad.
Gotta have those ratings and next "big story"

First good news in Iraq does not correspond to their political agenda.

Secondly, they are more interested in money (via ratings) than providing accurate information.

Because the mainstream media have only one credo -- profits. And "if it bleeds, it leads", which means that bad news sells.

all they want is ratings, nobody will ever watch the news if they saw all the good stuff we do there. Everytime we went out on patrol we took out MRE's and gave them to children gave out soo much fresh water, we even took a christian family whose father was kidnapped months ago, christmas presents. No one wants to hear that they want to hear about fellow americans dying.
