Wrap her tightly in a towel, so tight that she can't get her front legs out. If you introduce the pills from the side of her mouth in a way that she has to open her mouth you will then be able to put them at the back of her mouth. Then massage her throat and she will have little option but to swallow. Good Luck.

This is what I do, I wrap their bodies in a big towel. Then I take the lower jaw and push the pill right down into the back of the throat and they autoamtically swallow after a while it will go so fast you won't even need the towel. I did this to a cat for a month for a kennel cold that wouldn't go away. And also have your vet show you one more time they should do it for free. And you do in front of the vet as well. Good luck. If none of this works then you have to give just small amount of wet food and crush the pill and mix it in there, but the worst part of doing this is you have to make sure they're really hungry first. Good luck hope I helped.

cats and pills are such a pain.
pushing the pill to the back of her throat is the only sure fire way you will get it all down her. I am sure she will fight it, but you can use some olive oil to lube it and make it go down a little easier.
If that option just isn't going to work - pick up her food and don't let her eat for awhile. Say til tomorrow morning, then take the pill and either open it if it is a capsule or crush it if it is hard, and just take a spoonful of her food and mix it in. If she is hungry enough, she will eat that small portion down quickly and then you can give her more food, after you can be assued the meds went down first!
Other than that, you can call your vet and see if you can get something that will work in a liquid form, that you basically use an eye dropper to squirt in their mouth so that she has to swallow it.
Good luck

If your cat will not take the pill in food, or cannot have food with the medication, then it is down the hatch.
1.
Get the pill out of the bottle and place it where it will be handy.
2.
Bring your cat to the place you will give the pill, talking to her in a happy voice. If you do not sound worried or concerned, your cat will be less likely to feel that way as well.
3.
Sometimes, it is helpful to wrap the cat in a blanket or very large towel so just her head is sticking out. Place her back end against something so she cannot back away from you. I have found that when giving a pill to my Siamese cat, who fights against 'being pilled' literally tooth and nail, wrapping him in a large towel and then placing him between my knees as I sit on the floor gives me the most control. Other people like to place the cat more at eye level - on a table.
4.
Hold the pill between your thumb and index finger. (If you are right-handed, use your right hand.)
5.
Using your other hand, gently (but firmly) grasp your cat's head from above with your thumb on one side of the hinge of the jaw and your fingers on the other.
6.
Tilt your pet's head back over her shoulders so she is looking at the ceiling. Her lower jaw will automatically drop a bit.
7.
Place one of your free fingers of the hand holding the pill between the lower canine teeth (the long front teeth) and push down.
8.
Quickly place the pill as far back in your cat's mouth as possible, getting it over the 'hump' of the tongue. Do not place your hand too far in, however, or your cat may gag.
9.
Close your cat's mouth, hold it closed, and lower her head to a normal position, which will make swallowing easier. Gently rub or blow on your cat's nose; this often stimulates a cat to lick her nose, and then swallow.
10.
Talk softly and stroke your cat, or give another type of praise your cat will enjoy, e.g., a food treat. This will make the next time easier. And remember, the quicker you can give the medication, the easier it is on both of you.
11. Breaking a Tablet
If you have to break a scored tablet, here is a simple procedure that should work for any tablet that has a somewhat rounded surface:
1. Place the tablet on a flat hard surface.
2. Place one thumb on each side of the score.
3. Press down with both thumbs.
TIP
Have your cat's nails trimmed prior to giving the medication. (However, do not try to do one procedure right after the other.)

Cats get wise to hiding treats in food much more than dogs do, as you've discovered. The best thing to do is try to put it down her throat - you need to use the correct method for this to be successful however.
You may need someone to help you hold the cat - try minimum restraint, i.e the other person sitting the cat in front of them and just gently holding the front paws down. Then use one hand to tilt the cat's head far back - they're much more likely to open their mouth when their head is tilted back. Place your hand over the top of the head and round the top jaw to pull the head back.
Use the other hand to open the mouth - pull down on the front of the bottom jaw with one finger, don't bother trying to open from the sides of the mouth. When the mouth is open, quickly push the tablet far down the throat - the cat will be holding it's breath, there is no danger of putting the tablet down the 'wrong hole' by the way. Just approach the cat quietly and confidently - you need to be bold, but this method works with all but the most insane of cats.
Either that, or at meal times just give her a small amount of food with the crushed tablet mixed in, then give her the rest of her food when she's eaten that. Waiting for animals to take tablets in food personally makes me insane. Once you've shown your cat that the tablet-giving process can be quick and low-hassle, they usually learn to put up with it rather than fight. Just takes a bit of practice.

Pilling a cat isn't that hard - sit it down, lift head and force its mouth open with thumb and forefinger at the edges, then drop the pill in the cats mouth, towards the back of the tongue with your free hand and then close kitties mouth and wait a couple of seconds, say fifteen. Some people like to wrap the kitty in something and others hold it in their legs while pilling.

Don't try to mix pills with food. Cats are not stupid. They will eat around the pill and leave it there. Best way to give cat a pill:
Hold her mouth open with thumb and middle finger. With other hand try to get pill as far back into her throat as you can. Hold her mouth closed for a few seconds. She will swallow the pill.

You gotta shove it in her mouth- I know, that's horrible. José caught on right away and would eat all the food except his pill. I had to hold him, get kitty his/her own towel for this. José drooled, and you don't want the bed all messed up with cat drool. Do the side of the mouth thing. I would then hold her and make sure the pill was swallowed. José once kept it in his mouth, and when I checked he realized he was caught. I massaged his throat and head and it went down.
Get somebody to help you hold the cat in the towel. She may cry, she may get angry- just remember, you're the parent here, not kitty. You're the human, and pets and babies do not get to make these decisions for themselves.
They aren't stupid and won't eat something that tastes gross, much like people. Good luck!

When you mix it in her food have you tried smashing up the pill. Then put mix it with a little wet food and put the rest on top of the part w/ pills mixed in so it doesn't smell so strong. You could also try smashing the pill up and put it in a favorite treat like yogurt, or somehting that she really likes. Good Luck!

rOpen the cats mouth by lifting upward when holding her on your lap. Drop the pill as far back in her mouth as possible. Hold her mouth closed and gently stroke he throat causing a swallowing reflex. I have to do this daily. She doesn't like it and can clamp that mouth shut. But I'm persistent and almost always win .LOL
