I always add a couple slices of extra cheese when it's done, let it set a minute so they melt and then stir it in good. It makes it a lot cheesier. If you want to make a main dish, I love to put in well-cooked ground beef, chopped up of course, or you can cut hotdogs into peices, fry them a little and add those to it. I had a boyfriend that liked me to put tuna and a small box of frozen peas and carrots (thaw them good in a strainer under hot water and then add to the boiling mac just before it's done....use frozen though, the canned will fall apart while you add the cheese and mix and you have a fairly tasty stovetop tuna casserole....not one of my personal faves, but he loved it). Then just make a veggie and viola! Dinner! But the extra cheese slices do make it much better....a lot creamier and cheesier.

meat. in particular cubed ham, chicken or even tuna can be a nice addition. If you want to add some color you could throw a few diced tomatoes or bell peppers.

Kids love chopped up hot dogs in their mac & cheese. There's a reason they like it. ;) It's pretty darn good.

Enjoy

To make the cheese sauce richer, add some cubed American cheese and cheddar cheese and a little mustard powder. You can also add cooked chicken, broccoli, mixed vegetables, seasoned bread crumbs to add texture....

Shredded cheddar and sour cream/cream of mushroom soup. Mix in before baking or placing on stove so that all ingredients are evely distributed and you'll have a "sauce" that will stick to the pasta.
