A year ago my syrain lived with another syrain and they never fought. the other one named bub ran away the one that I still have today is brownii so that goes against all the theorys. You people may think that syrains have to stay alone all there whole lives. they arent that mean as you think if you really pay attention to your animals you would under stand that animals can't be judged by the species. I had a pit bull a ;long time ago and he never bit anyone.I had a cat that protected my 2 hamsers and birds from other cats. See you can't judge animals cause of there species. my hamster the syrain lived with another for a year they never fought once in there time together, but bob ran away. If you really dont listen to your animals and know what there personalities are then you dont really care.

It is possible they are two different breeds of hamsters. You stated that the syrian is large and golden, and the black bear seems smaller. Is it the same age? There are stores that sell black Dwarf hamsters as black bear or blackberry hamsters. If this black bear is indeed smaller and a different species (probably a dwarf) it won't like being in a cage with a syrian. Also, your Syrian is not a cross breed of a golden syrian and a black bear. It is not genetically possible for a Syrian to cross breed with another species of hamster, only with other syrians of a different color. So, sorry, but you were lied to. Your hamster is probably a cross between a typical golden syrian and what people call Panda bear hamsters, which are usually black with some white.

Your syrian will not get along with other species, such as Dwarfs, Roborovskis, Chinese Dwarfs, etc. He will only tolerate other Syrians, and he might not always. I would not recommend housing these hamsters together at first. If you use wire cages, set the cages next to each other and see if they try to attack. If you have to females, there is NO WAY they will tolerate each other for long. You might have witnessed your syrian playing nice with other hamsters, but this will probably not last forever. It would be irresponsible of you, as a pet parent, to allow two different species of hamsters to coexist - it can be terribly dangerous and possibly end in death.

I, too, had a cat and a rottweiler that were very, very protective of my hamsters. My manx cat would allow one of my dwarfs to climb on his back and groom him! My rottie would try to lick them and would bark at my other cats if they tried to go too near the cages.

Firstly, I can 100% promise you that balck bear hamsters and syrian hamsters are the same!!! The poor syrian hamster has, over the years been lumbered with all sorts of ridiculous nicknames because they come in a huge array of colours, patterns and hair lengths. If you do put 2 syrians together, sooner or later one will kill the other, it really is just a matter of time. If you dont believe peoples answers about your breed of hamsters or the fact that they are solitary animals, comtact your local vet and they will verify that this information is correct.

Syrian hamsters get called 'teddy bears' and other ridiculous names, and the black ones get called 'black bears'. Don't be fooled into thinking they're different species! Different 'breeds' might be the word - or perhaps just different 'colours'.

Has your current hamster actually lived with other hamsters, or just met them? There's quite a difference there - Syrian hamsters don't share territories - if they are forced to, they'll fight to the death over it.

So the answer to your question is no - 'black bears' do not get along with Syrians.

The black bear hamsters are friendlier than the syrain hamsters. They don't tend to bite like the syrains do. Also, you can only have one of these hamsters per cage-They will fight and kill each other.

First of all they are the same thing. Pet stores just give them those nicknames! And no syrian hamsters don't get along with any another hamster! Only when they are young but sometimes they still fight!

Syrian hamsters don't get along with any hamster! You should always keep one along otherwise they will fight untill death! They are very territorial. You shouldn't really mix different breeds of hamsters but whatever you do don't put a syrian with any hamster!

I would ask a pet store employee or a vet, but my guess is going to be no because they are two different types of hamsters.
