There are five: fats, dairy, protein, carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables. The proportion that you eat these food groups is shown in the picture in the first link below. I have also included BBC Health Living site as this is a good place to start to learn about a balanced eating plan

I have it on excellent authority that an Irish Coffee and a Bacon Sandwich contain all of the major food groups.
