Most PMP certified project managers are usually from the IT (information technology) industry. I wonder if the PMP certification will be good for people who are in marketing.

Not necessarily for Marketing, its good for IT and construction other engineering companies, but you will actually waste your time if its for Marketing. For the Marketing you will need your degree first and foremost, secondly you will want to make sure that you have interned or worked for other companies in the industry you are trying to break into. Finally do not jump around from company to company seeing if you like that industry it looks horrible on a resume. Good Luck and dont do it if it is not fun, cause then its work.

Sure! Project management is a necessary skill in a wide range of functional areas, not just IT.
