i used to think they are boring and kinda evil trying to brainwash u, but around 4 months ago, i met two missionaries, and now i have to say they are just very very great people and i definitely enjoy spening time wit them! they are not trying to brainwash me like many people think, they just belive in god, and have a good life (one is a scholarship baseball and football player from Utah) , they are not some weirdo freaks, they want u to have the same kinda joy they have, they never put any presure on me pushing me to the church and get me baptised. they are also very cool and funny too! tell u somethingu might not know, they are actually paying themself to come to another country, spending their own money, the only things they dont hav to pay for is the flat and telephone plus transport. and iv seen their handbook, there are so many rules, to be frank, i think even an inmate in prison has more freedom than they do! they are not allowed to watch TV, no radio only church music, have to wake up 6:30 every morning, can only call home on Xmas and only 1 email per week only about ur experience on the mission, which means u can't say u hate the place ur serving in etc. so too ALL Of YOU! if u see a missionary, specially thos from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (thos im meeting wit), be nice to them, they are really really really nice people, also the church they ask u to go will never ask u for member fee, unlike many other churches do. u can attend to the church without paying for anything. everyone is nice in the church, just like a big family! even tho i still not completely believe in this whole thing, but one thing i CAN NOT deny, what they are teaching and spreading are GOOD and essential to our lives (such as taking care of ur bodies, do not drink or smoke, never do drugs etc. cuz thos are unclean in god's eyes)!

I don't know what type of missionaries you are talking about. But I support 100% LDS missionaries that are able to leave their home, family, friends and all their materia things to go wherever they are sent, no matter where and they leave with only scential stuffs for 2 years (if it is a woma it is 1 1/2 years) I admire them a lot and I really support them. They go to other places to spread the truth, to share their knowledge about the gospel and that is a beautiful work. They do not get paid for this... they pay to do this but they get lots of blessings back. They remeber this as the best two years. I wanna go on an LDS mission too and I know that I will love it! If you are talking about any other kind of missionaries, I support them too, they are spreading God's word and it is important to teach children in a young age about God, they should have knowledge of him and have faith since as early as possible.

If you don't like missionary work, then you can ignore it. The doctrines we believe in are very important to us and we believe are important to all mankind. Therefore, we are obligated to share the Gospel message to as many people as we can find that are willing to listen. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not bribe people into joining the Church. We offer what we have and teach those that are willing to learn. After hearing the messages offered, the investigator can choose for themselves whether or not to accept. No force is applied to anybody to believe the message. The success of the message is testimony in itself of the truthfulness thereof. Christ said if any man will do my will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God or whether I speak of myself. So it is with us. We invite all to come unto Christ and receive the comforter into your lives through receipt of the principles and ordinances of the Gospel.
I invite you to open your heart and your mind to find out for yourself and not be prejudiced by the falsehoods spread by outsiders.

No, I don't find it "sick and twisted," and I never have.

Try looking up the story of the Waodani tribe, and then think about it.

In their minds, they're not only bringing food and happiness to people with material things, they're bringing the message of Christ. To THEM it's the best thing they could do.

Have a little bit of respect. They mean well, and I admire their courage.

I am so sick of those B!tches coming to my door and trying to "convert me to the life of Jesus". What makes them so conceited that they think I even need they're help or opinion? And as for those poor people in other countries, if my ribs popped out so far I could play them like a xylophone, I would believe that cabbages and blue butted monkeys were behind the war in Iraq if it was going to get me food.

Yeah, they start orphanages where they give kids food and medicine and send them to school, then turn around and convert them. That's why christianity is spreading faster in Africa then anywhere else.

I think it is the height of arrogance to go to another culture and "save" them with your "superior" beliefs.

As long as they are building schools and water wells I don't care what religion it is they teach people. Those people are bound to believe something stupid, it may as well be what someone who does good things for them believes.

The missionaries I saw down in Panama the 7 years I was there were more concerned with getting drunk and laid than with preaching.

Hey, everyone is bribing everyone every day. Didn't your parents bribe you? Your teachers, your friends?
Just b/c you don't believe, is it so awful if someone else does?
Does their beliefs diminish yours?

I find it more sick that the R&Ser's who claim god has chosen them refuse to spread his word in Iraq and Afghanistan.
