I don't want to sound silly this time, I am serious. Even if it is a bug, It is something alive, a creature created by God. It could be applied to any other living animal. What do you think of all this?

Not being a Jainist, no, I don't feel bad.

Mosquitoes are yet another argument against a loving creator god.

Yes, I do feel bad every time I kill a bug, but it's something that has to be done. I don't like to see another creation being destroyed, but some creations are by nature so inconsiderate in their breeding practices and eating habits that we would be miserable to let them live.

Some could say you could just take those annoying insects somewhere else. For instance, if a spider is not venemous, I put it outside the house. (Except for daddy-long-legs, which I let stay in my house, because they eat poisonous red-back spiders).

However, with my daughter, I am continually fighting a battle against her headlice. I could do the "humane" thing and pick them out of her hair and then leave them somewhere, rather than squishing them. But then they would just die a slow death of starvation. Should I leave those critters in my daughter's hair - let them live? How compassionate is that, then, to my poor daughter, and all of her schoolmates. She would be scratching her head to pieces.

So. Yes, I hate killing bugs, but it's got to be done for the sake of our own happiness.

The same goes for other pests like foxes, rabbits, feral cats and dogs, etc. (I'm Australian.) These animals are not Australian natives, and they destroy Australian native animals. As wardens of God's creation, we sometimes have a responsibility to kill things when allowing them to live would be the more destructive choice.

Love, peace and blessings, to you, sister.

Eh. It depends. One of my hobbies is collecting insects, and that requires that I put bugs in a jar with alcohol fumes. It kills them fairly quickly without damaging them.

If it's a mosquito or an earwig or some other nasty, I don't particularly regret it. But when it's something cool or beautiful, like a cecropcia moth, yes, I do feel a little bad about it.

If I find an insect indoors, I take it outside. I don't deliberately kill insects (other than the alcohol jar).

Besides, insects don't live very long anyway. For instance, large moths, like cecropcias and hawk moths, live for only a week or so after emerging from their cocoon.

My 3 year old got a Bug Vacuum ($10 at Target) for his birthday 3 weeks ago, I LOVE that thing! I've caught 3 moths and a grasshopper already! I just open the back door and send them on their way - no swatting involved, so nice.

I do feel bad when I kill a bug. Unless it is a mosquito.

As a matter of fact, mosquitoes are the only bugs I will kill knowingly. I won't kill flies, wasps, spiders, roaches, ants, beetles, junebugs, millipedes, moths, etc.

I don't believe in God, but my rationale is that every animal deserves a chance, and there is no reason to kill one (unless it attacked me. Mosquitoes take their chances).

I'm an atheist but I really really bad when I kill a bug. I guess it's that time I was studying buddhism. I've actually always felt bad about it. I try to save bugs from my wife when I can, scoop them up and move them.

Depends on the bug. If a spider gets into the house, I capture it and put it outside. If I encounter a mosquito, I kill it without a moment's hesitation. Likewise fleas and ticks.

Yes, just before I am about to step on a bug I nearly scream my lungs out and my pulse starts racing. I hate to think that I was the person who ended it's existence on this earth.

A bug its just a bug,if God doesnt want us to kill them then he would creat them bigger and smarter than us. So dont be silly!!

Just kill those bugs that can damage ur family or neighbors and leave the rest alone

Hell, I am sometimes even feeling bad if I cut off a lot of basil or chives to cook with.
Except for mosquitos, yes. with mosquitos it feels enough like essential self defense, so I can stand it. Otherwise I usually chase bugs out instead of swatting them. They let me live, I let them live.

I only kill flies, ants, and mosquitoes, everything else is removed from my home humanely. It's not so much that I feel bad for killing them, I actually like bugs, bats, snakes, mice, etc. So, everything leaves my property alive and unharmed.
