Only those who have been born again by the Holy Spirit of God are brought into His family, as His children - heirs of the promises, and joint-heirs with Christ. Read John chapter 3. All such are Christians.

Romans chapter 8 spells it out this way: from God's point of view, there are only two types of people on earth - those who are indwelt by the Spirit of Christ, and those who are not. "There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit... So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His... if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God."

Only the Spirit of God can cause the light of Christ to shine out through you into a sin-darkened world. Be filled with the Holy Spirit and God will work his wonders of grace in you

First you must realize there are also FALSE Christians as well as REAL.

Real ones would follow Jesus' steps closely. They would obey him in all things. They would examine all their beliefs to make sure none are unacceptable to God. That would include beliefs that began in pagan religions.

They would all be in agreement in spiritual matters and have principled love among themselves. That would be inside the congregations and between the congregations. So they would not take part in the nations wars either as both sides have their spiritual brothers.

They would actively preach and teach as Jesus ordered. Certainly not sitting on their rears doing nothing but lip service. No earthly employer would put up with this so we should not expect Jesus to do so.

True Christians would lead their daily lives according to Bible principles. Perfection is not expected, effort is. There are logical reasons for Bible principles, mostly for our good health. Protection from STDs, a happy strong family life, being well thought of as a person of integrity, are only a few.

These are the highlights. There are more things to being a real Christian.

Admit your a sinner
Believe God
Confess your sins to God.

Ask God to fill you with His power from on high, so that it is not in our own strength we try to set a real example, but in the strength of the Holy Spirit.

Love others unconditionally. "Sin" is merely what prevents a person from being able to love - a preoccupation with the self. If you are busy preaching and judging others, you are not loving; thus, you are sinning. Release your concept of self and ego to understand and empathize with others.

It is not simple by any means... but do not listen to the Church. Spirituality is dead within it.

i agree with patrone07. the act of loving is powerful, and it is through love that you are truly you. when you're really passionate for something/ someone, you show your true colors and go above and beyond for that thing. god is love, so in a sense, it is when you show your love, you're like showing a light for that person, god's light. love is what can make us perfect.

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35

Join the cult and trick others into joining. Then you are a good Christian.
