Hope these work!
don't be shy to think of a creative way of proposing! I'm sure she'll love it any way that you do it, but make it some thing that she can remember for the rest of her life. Also, when picking out the engagement ring, think simple, not too expensive, and go ALL OUT for the wedding ring. thats the way to go for sure. good luck : )

How's this for a ring? http://diamonds.bluenile.com/assets/product_images/rings/BR30405700_zoom.jpg I know it looks big, but really, the stone isn't that huge.
If you go to a local engagement ring retailer they can take a ring like that and place the blue topaz in the middle, I'm sure. Just take the picture to them and they'll be happy to do it.
As for proposing... I'm not sure- of course, do something that's significant for you both. For instance, if you like sailing, go out in the bay/lake and propose on the ship. If you're landlocked... well. Here are some ideas: http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Best-Creative-Ways-to-Propose&id=85561 Though I suggest you pick something that she will enjoy, something that is very "her"- to make sure it's memorable. Congradulations!!!!

try not to propose to her in public, especially with your friends and family around. give her the chance to say no and not say yes out of pressure. also, it keeps the embarasment to a minimum. GOOD LUCK. Hope it goes well. Whatever you say keep it from the heart. How about " the reason my life is better is because of you. If you spend the rest of your life with me it will only become amazing. Will you marry me?"
also, check the pawnshops you might get some good deals. Peace!

I would first look for a reputable jewelry store...don't go to the mall...cheezy... most of them you have to have checked every 6 months or they don't guarantee anything...I never have to have mine checked, unless I want to, and I get free cleaner, and when my middle stone fell out and was lost, they totally replaced it...no questions asked...great customer service.
(Kessler's Diamonds)
If she loves Topaz, then get that around her main stone (make that one a diamond) otherwise it won't look like an engagement ring...her band could also have topaz in it....

She may love blue topaz but you might want to be sure she wants that for an engagement ring.

well, since i do believe that diamonds are a girls best friend, but i also know that any man who wants to marry me will know that the perfect engagement ring for me will have a diamond in the middle with ruby clusters on either side, i did a little searching to find a picture of something she might like.
however, my suggestion would be to do something opposite what this picture is... larger diamond in the middle with a couple of blue topaz ... either individuals on either side or clusters like the rubys that i want with my ring.
as for where to propose, i don't know where you live, but i would take her to one of her favorite restaurants or favorite places. like if she enjoys going to the beach or sitting by a lake, take a picnic lunch (something on the gourmet side of things... certainly not egg salad) with a bottle of champagne and propose over desert... whatever her favorite is! strawberries are always good too!
well, best of luck! i hope this helped, and i hope she says yes!!! you'll have to email me and let me know what she says!!!

My husband chose the jewelry store and called them ahead of time telling them how much he could afford to spend. Then he took me there and they showed me only the ones in his price range and he let me choose. I thought it was really cool that I got to choose, because I got a ring that I really love. He still got down on one knee in a romantic location later to give it to me and actually propose.

How will your girl react when she finds out that you didn't know her well enough to know what style ring she likes or how to go about proposing marriage and that you got your ideas by asking total strangers on YA?
Perhaps you should hold off on the proposal until you can do at least these two things on your own.
