Most of the soldiers I know say it's because they never agreed with the war in the first place and now they're being forced to go and fight for something they don't believe in. there's also the problem of rapid re-deployment, some of these troops don't even get the chance to get out of the servic before they get sent back over there.
Overall, it's because the politicians are screwing them over.

The allegations made by this site are so off kilter it doesnt even justify a response. Most of the same things were said about the Vietnam war. I am sad that yes there are some troops who will experience combat and turn against what they once believed. I also think it is sad that the media and the politicians only show you one side of this war or any war. it is all to serve their own personal goals. If you believe everything you see on the news and believe that that is the way it is well perhaps you need to turn the channel. Fox news does a really good job of showing both sides....probably better than any other news source. There are positive sides to this war and the rebuilding of a country does take time. Of course there are going to be attacks on our soldiers as long as they are there. The US has proven time and again that they do not like to stay in a prolonged military action. the intent of the constant roadside attacks and basically harassment is to lose popular support so the troops go home and then a civil war erupts in the country. If the US stays the course and eventually the Iraqi people govern themselves more and more then the US presence will be minimal. I do believe that the US will always maintain a base there much like we do in Europe which will be a launching point if ever needed.

Probably because four years after it started the guys in charge are only just starting to listen to the experts who have been giving them counter insurgency tips since the beginning and are only taking the tidbits that they think look tasty and throwing the rest of the dish down the disposer.

well the simple answer is if you come back from a war zone would you want to be redeployed again some of thoes soliders out there now have been deployed 6 times i think after so many times of being sent out there i would turn against it too. no sister, son, daughter, husband, wife or anywone wants to leave there families to go fight in a war but they know its there job and thats what they have to do.

I am sure they are just sick of going to Iraq and being away from their families even though they knew it could happen if they joined the military. How ever you look at it, they are humans and all humans needs their friends and families.

Because most people have the *insane* notion that if they're going to give their life in war, it should at least be for a good cause. Not, for example, to help a bad president extend a mess he created for another year so he can improve his status when he's talked about in history books years from now.

Why are so many of us wanting and waiting to go back? Where do you get these web sights? I wish someone would ask me to answer some of these poll questions.

I don't think active duty personnel are turning against the war , I think they are exhausted and frustrated. Many of the troops are being re-deployed and are wondering why their people, the American people are not supporting them more actively. They wonder why the armored vehicles and other equipment they need are not coming. They are hero's, hero's don't turn their backs, they fight on, but they cant do it alone. Support the troops and their fight.

Because a soldier needs to know his mission and they are not there with a set plan of what they are doing, just policing in small groups and hoping nothing happens.

They're not, actually. Only ignorant civilians, most of whom have never even been outside of the U.S., are foolish enough to believe everything they see on TV and what their power hungry politicians tell them. I'd be curious to know exactly how many people you know, personally, who have been in this war or are there now, and compare that to how many I know...
