After all, those that talk about sin (even though none of them can give you an Empirical definition of it) are the ones that give you the solution. (which, oddly enough, means giving money to their church. Convenient, that.)
So, in essence, religion makes up a problem, tells you how "evil" or "bad" you are for having that problem and then tells you how to solve it, with yet another made up solution.
Can you say SCAM? Because I certainly can!

That's essentially the same technique modern marketing applies every day. Create a desire first, and then sell something to fill it.

Exactly!

"Sin" is their concept, and so is "God." In the latter case, it is basically a human (so that we can relate) who is omnipotent (strong foundation for us, impossible to fight, always right), omniscient (always right, knows us better than we know ourselves), and benevolent (can do no wrong, always has our best interests in mind). You basically can't make a case against God as long as people genuinely believes it is a sentient being.

It is an IDEA that has come to be WORSHIPED. Instead of trying to obtain that ideal ourselves, many of us think it best to leave it all up to this "idea." It is actually the death of idealism, strangely enough.

And people say that religion answers the questions that science can't, which of course is a lie. So many different religions -> so many different answers. With no singular answer, how can the question be answered satisfactorily? And if you say that ALL answers to these questions are legitimate, then what does it matter?

Religion harms us far more than it helps us. We don't need it to love others, but it certainly helps people judge...

Keep on thinking like that. Go right ahead! Do you really think it will matter in the end? You are looking at the few and blaming the many. Have you ever read the bible? How can you judge something so contemptuously w/o even knowing what it is you dislike? here's a quote for you:

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguements and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance--that principle is contempt prior to investigation."--Herbert Spencer

Organized religion is an attempt to remove the personal experience from spirituality. God is everywhere. You can talk to him any time you want. His love exists in every plant, every animal, every rock, and the entire solar system. It is organized religions intent to rob you of the personalized experience of divinity in an attempt to profit and control the masses.

If you control the doorway to the divine (arguably, "Heaven", if such a place exists) you control the people that seek divinity. If you control someone's sexuality, you control them at the most fundamental level of thier psyche. That is exactly what organized religion attempts to do.

not really ... a person doesnt have to be involved with organized religeon to be religeous and find meaning and hope in God ... and the definition of sin is the corruption of the perfect .. and sin is destructive to those that commit it ... so avoiding sin is in a persons best interest and its not bought by giving money to the church ...

If you think there is no such thing as sin then you can't rightfully complain if someone steals, kills or rapes, because if there is no such thing as right and wrong then it would mean that maybe stealing, murder and rape was ok.

But even those who say we don't know what is right and wrong would claim stealing, rape and murder are wrong, but how can they say that while also saying we don't know what is right and wrong.

Either right and wrong does exist or if it doesn't then it's ok to steal, murder and rape.

Henceforth there is right and wrong.

Have I made my point?

If it's all the person knows or can understand and they derive some positive benefit (virtuous) from it, then I say let 'em at it.
