In the O.T. Tithing was for the Support of the Jewish Priesthood & the Military. The N.T. has the Support of the Local Body of Believers & Clergy as not just a "Monetary" event, but in All Ways such as U are "Prospered", NOT Just 10% of Ur "Monetary Prosperity"!!! Today however U are Correct, that "Religion" puts the "O'l Squeeze Play" on every week & Unfortunately many "Members" feel it's a "Small Price to Pay" to "Clear Their Conscience", compared to say cleaning the church building, taking elderly members shopping or to the Drs.' Office etc.. God gave Us All "Talents" & He expects Us to Use them. What better way to get to know the "Brethren" than to spend a day with them!!! "Religion" instead seems to want to "Build Monuments to their (Sinful Mans) Greatness" which is NOT RIGHT!!! Wanna make a "Difference"? Give of Urself to someone else!!! John

Yes I agree with that, tithes are no longer part of the christian religion, Jesus did away with the law, so taking money unlawfully is stealing
(Colossians 2:14) 14 and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us; and He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake.. . .

(Romans 10:4) . . .For Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.

It's not theft per se.
However, when a con man bilks someone out of money, it is a crime. And that, after all, is what churches do to their members.
They promise them a magical-afterlife and ask them to give money.
It's all very clever and slick. And it makes the MOUNTAINS of cash.
Still doesn't mean it's right.

No. No one is threatened if they do not choose to pungle up to a church; churches have no authority beyond what their adherents choose to give them. Which is, in my case, none whatever.

If theft is voluntary, it's not theft.

The mafia calls it protection money. Call it what you want, it is extortion.

I think you are very confused, and angry about something which you don't understand.
