You can become an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church over the internet, yes.


I know a guy who did that, and he is now licensed to marry two of my coworkers.

Yes. I've had friends who did it, and yes, it's legal (but only if you get it activated at your local courthouse. Look up the Universal Life Church and the Church of Spiritual Humanism. They'll ordain you over the net. Then you take your ordination credentials to the local courthouse, pay the fee, and you're legal. A friend of mine who got ordained online just legally performed a wedding this way.

You can, and I have done so. Check out the Universal Life Church, in Modesto, California. Ordination is free; the site sells kits of information as to how to do weddings and other functions for a modest price.

Yes it is true. Funny thing is, whoever gets ordained via the 'net is just as qualified to discuss the supernatural as anyone who has "studied" it for years.

Of course, I live in CA, and any adult over the age of 18 who isn't a felon can marry people too. And I think the felon thing can be got around.
