This is according to the Catholic Church. There is 2 judgments. When you die, you (your soul) face Jesus for the general judgment. Your soul 'tells' Jesus your beliefs based upon what you taught it while it was in your body on earth. If you are complete unfaithful, an atheist or worship another god, you will go to hell. If you were baptized, Jesus judges you based on your faith and deeds. Then you will either go to Heaven or Purgatory. You (your soul) goes to Purgatory to get purified, to become perfect in order to enter Heaven. Some soul are in Purgatory for a few minutes (in human terms) and some are there for hours or months or years or hundreds of years. But eventually, all souls in Purgatory will be in Heaven. God isn't in Purgatory. It is a place of punishment but not a permanent place. Hell is permanent.

The final jugment day is when Jesus comes again and He will raise all of the dead. The dead bodies will be new bodies and they will be reunited will their souls. The Jesus will lock Satan and his demons in hell for 1000 yrs (human time) and Jesus will reign on earth with the righteous people. After the 1000 yrs, Jesus will release Satan and He will take the righteous to Heaven with Him and live there forever. Satan will rule the earth but there will be no more man to try to control. Just him, his demons and the damned.

At the time of the 1st judgment, you can talk to Jesus. At the final judgment, His decision is already made.

Yes, If you die and go to hell it is too late to make things right with God. Do it now b/c you never know what tomorrow holds...

p.s. Jehovah's witnesses believe their is no hell but if you are not right with God- when you will die you never have an afterlife. Even if that were the case, it would still be too late when you die so make things right with God now!

From what I have been taught and read in the bible, if you die before you make it right with our Lord, you go to hell for ever.
It's a very scary thought. I just hope I am doing right, and being a good christian...I would rather get it right the first time around. I don't plan on frying in hell, and trying to figure out a way to fix it.

If you believe the Bible to be true, then that is correct. "The rich man lifted up his eyes in hell being in torment, and said, Father Abraham, send Lazarus to dip his finger in water for my tongue for I am tormented in this flame." He went straight from life to Hell---If you believe the Bible. Too late, just like too late to cure lungs which have been burdened with cig.smoke for 30 years.
Damage has been done. Good news is, that as long as there is a breath of life, there is hope.
Try it---only way to have peace.

No! its not to late for when you are resurrected you will have another opportunity to get right. But why not have ahead start and find out what God requires of you now?
You can start by reading John 17:3, then do what it says.
If you have questions, just ask and see if the scriptures answer it for you? gemhandy@hotmail.com

No. Hell is spirit prison. Peter wrote that when Jesus died he went to preach to the spirits in prison. Christ opened the gates to missionary work for those who may yet repent.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

1 Peter 4:5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

Nope, according to Judaism the longest you'll spend in hell is a year while your soul is being refined to be in god's presence. Those that are truly bad will simply no longer exist after that.

yes, once you are there, you are there. this life is about making that choice: to live for yourself, or to see your place in God's plan. The message of this world tells us to live for yourself, so it's really not an easy thing to find your place in God's plan. All you have to do to become right with God is to say that you believe that Jesus lived on this earth to show us how to live a life pleasing to God. God himself became a man, Jesus, to demonstrate how to live our lives. Explore the Bible, read Colossians 1:15-20. Don't just adhere to what the world teaches..................in your heart you have the desire to explore what God means to you. God programs that into each one of us, so that we WILL explore. He wants you to choose to believe what He says in the Bible about who He is, and how He is Jesus.
Please explore, you will find the assurance that you did the right thing

Read the Bible and try to find a good book that discusses it, like "What Does the Bible Really Teach" by Jehovah's Witnesses, and you will find there is no hell and that God is not a cruel God, but a loving one.
