You can try helping them organize a yard sale to raise some money. You can also have them call their local utilities to work out payment options. This might free up some cash to pay for their home and vehicles. They can always call the banks where their car loans are through and ask for a one month deferrement.

Secondly, if all that is done, they should go to their own family for help. Then to their church. If they don't have a church, the LDS (Mormon) church does a lot of charity for families in need. They have what's called a Bishop's Storehouse. They will help with food and hygiene needs. Lastly, they can go to the government for help. This is the very last resort though.

Usually churchs, at least the LDS church, provides financial and credit counseling, as well as job opportunities. There is a good network of people in their wards that could get them jobs or whatever help they may need. Maybe they can get them back on the right track.

The family needs to go to money counseling. You don't get in that much trouble overnight. Sounds like they have been making bad choices for a long time. I used to think I could help my daughter and her family, I would loan them money when they got into trouble. Then one day I gave them $500.00 for food. Next time I went to visit they had a new bedspread and 2 love birds. Some people just are bad with money and giving them more really doesn't help. It's ashame they may lose there house but they did it and it is not just bad luck.

You got to love people who mismanage their money then cry when the bills come due. They are getting what they deserve.

But to answer your question, most bleeding heart liberals, local churches, homeless shelters will help people who have no ability what so ever to help themselves.
