I am going to spew chunks!!!!!!

Have you ever seen "ignorant atheists" or "stupid right winger agnostics" or "dumb whoevers" posted? If you have please show me. I can show you quite a few that have been posted against us.

Just because you don't agree with our point of view or simply don't have the ability to understand it and continue to bash us because of that fact makes YOU a little crazy and quite ignorant.

AND - TO NOTE - I KNOW IT IS NOT JUST ATHIESTS AND AGNOSTICS. I DON'T HAVE ROOM TO WRITE DOWN EVERY BELIEF OR DISBELIEF SO DON'T THROW THE "WHAT MAKES YOU THINK IT'S US" CARD.

Also, another thing that is bugging me is that some of you state that hate stems from religion and christianity. That is just plain stupid.

It is said in the bible that christians will be persecuted. This site is proof that is happening as we speak.

Who agrees with me? Is anyone else out there sick of this continual bad mouthing of Christians? or have you become complacent?

Just ignore the rude people, and maybe they'll go away. There are plenty of nice atheists, agnostics, Wiccans, pagans, Muslims, Buddhists, and Hindus on this site to make up for the ignorant, rude ones.

And don't take it too personally. They're the same kinds of people that would be disrespectful no matter WHAT religion they belonged to.

Easy, Sweetness, easy. Slow down and breathe before you pass out. I know it sucks when people persecute you, but there comes a time when you just have to let it roll off of you -- otherwise you give the haters what they want.
I know all about that -- being called names, having threats thrown at you for no good reason. It's alright, you know. You know that you're nothing of the sort, so you go on with your life and let it just slide.
Breathe Dearest. Have a cup of tea, of a nice glass of ice tea.
No, we haven't become complaicent, we're still working. Not only you Christians are being persecuted. Some of you are *doing* the persecuting and you're just getting the backlash. Crappy. I know it's not fair. Turn your other cheek.
Somedays that's all you can do. As for hate stemming from religion, yes, somedays it does seem like that. All they seem to do is fight and fight and fight. No one does any blessing any more.

Now Dear Child. The only advice I can give you is to just keep calm and say to yourself, are they persecuting me because I've persecuted someone else? If the answer is yes, then say you're sorry and get on with your life. If the answer is no, then move on still.

Westill have to do that over at LGBT. We're very good at it.
Blessed are the Merciful.

Guess what? We Christians aren't the only ones being slammed on this site. I've seen far too many posts like this:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiXEw9jT3YkmmTZo1skcZlUjzKIX?qid=20070306123807AAoKcsd

And there are many, many anti-Semitic, anti-Wiccan, and other negative posts. It's part of life in the R&S section. Open your eyes. The trolls on this site don't just target Christians. They're equal opportunity offenders.

I do find the "dumb Christian" stereotype wearisome, and have answered such charges many times. I am a college-educated Christian, but whining isn't going to solve anything. However, making rational and articulate contributions to this site and others could be a step in the right direction.

I think you're overreacting. We live in a time of hyperbolic rhetoric. Nobody seems to be able to disagree calmly and rationally with someone, we always want to call them names. We should -all- back off. We should -all- have more respect for the beliefs of others. We should learn to disagree without being disagreeable.

If you're honest with yourself, if you really read Yahoo Answers with an open mind, you will see just as many insults by Christians towards 'atheists' on this forum as the other way around. They're BOTH wrong. If you expect people to listen to you and respect your beliefs, then I think it's incumbent on you to listen to them and show some respect for what -they- believe.

I'm not Christian but Christians have taught me a lot about morality, responsibility, etc. etc., because I respect them and LISTEN to them, even though I don't believe all the things they believe. As my dad used to say, there's nobody in the world so smart that you couldn't teach h im something, and nobody so stupid that you couldn't learn something from him.

I think some days are worse than others here. Once you have been here for a while I think it becomes easier to ignore the ignorance that is spewed without thought. People will always resort to name calling and attempting to tear someone down when they have no other foot to stand on. It only shows that the people who do the name calling just simply don't understand what is being discussed. Shake it off, don't worry about it and take the higher road.

this is not any longer a citation, yet I remember vacationing a Fundamentalist church and sitting by a very scary sermon wherein a pastor inspired beating babies. If babies cry, then a demon is making them tell lies. in case you %. up a crying toddler and the toddler isn't somewhat in danger, then the newborn exchange into mendacity and desires a whipping. i exchange into almost crying myself while that sermon exchange into executed out of compassion for the toddlers entrusted to such monsters. I observed countless mothers and fathers hit their toddlers at that provider. I strongly help non secular tolerance as long as human beings's ideals are not harming every person, yet those ideals have been it appears that evidently risky and unsafe.

Christians live by a certain rule, and many of them forget to follow it...

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

If you make fun of another person's beliefs, they have every right to do it back to you.

And yes, people with other beliefs sometimes don't follow that rule either. So don't start in on that.

I personally don't care if you acknowledge my beliefs or anyone else in particular's. Just let us believe what we believe, and don't push your religion down other people's throats.

Yes, I have seen people call atheists ignorant. Kind of redundant.

"It is said in the bible that christians will be persecuted. This site is proof that is happening as we speak."

Don't you have a pathetic martyr complex.

You think some people saying "you're stupid" on a site you chose to post on for free is persecution?

You wouldn't know persecution if it gave you a shower in Auschwitz.

We (atheists) have been called everything. Maybe you don't see, but yes, it's there. Complaining about it isn't going to make a difference. One has to develop a thicker skin.
