tube tv's does not support hdtv.
I'm sorry that you were unlucky. I have 28 in Sony and for 10 years it serves brilliantly. Another Sony 22 just died after 14.5 years.

Tube tv's have resolution between 300 and 500 lines.
Compare to min 1280 lines of LCD and 1024 lines of Plasma. Hdtv requires LCD or Plasma TV.
Normally, if you are not terribly unlucky both Plasma and LCD should last more than 5 years. Their life expectancy is between 10 - 20 years.

well there are tube hdtvs out there and they are all over. who is this guy who says that tube (crt) tvs arent hd. they where one of the originals in hd. ne way yes you can get a tube hdtv and they are the cheapest and most often give you the best picture. they are availible in 26" 30" and 34" i have seen them in 27" and 32" but they were not wide screen. as far as manufactures go i had a philips hd tube set and it had a beautiful pic on it. also sony and samsung make good tube hds.stay away from cheapys or store brands if you want it to last a long time. ex. durabrand, ilo(walmart) , insignia(bestbuy) . and so on. good luck

There aren't very many tube type HDTV sets around any more. You might want to try a search engine and type in

"CRT HDTV -projection" (to eliminate projection tv's)

and see what you get.

This is one site I found ...

Yes, they are still being manufactured. I don't know where these others get their info. Their slimmer now too and they are in the 16x9 format with all the latest hookups such as HDMI.
