You can get one from a shelter most probably for less than $150 at very most. Some well under $100. Look up the Chihuahua rescue in your area.

Prices for Chihuahuas range from $150 to $500 for unregistered and $500 to over $1000 for registered AKC, CKC, UKC pups.
Please find breeders close to you so you may tour their facilties and see the other dogs. Avoid buying over the internet unless you are close enough to drive and pick it up. Buying a pup before seeing it could lead to health problems down the road because of backyard breeders and puppy mills not to mention inbreeding.
Most good breeders are in contact with other breeders and know which colors carry for specific colors when mating. If you are shopping around for a solid black long coat then let the breeders know and they can tell you if any other breeders have dogs available or parents that carry for black.
Good luck and don't be surprised if you wind up with more than one Chi ;0

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. If you cannot afford to stretch even a little for the initial cost of a pet, you certainly are not going to be financially responsible for the ongoing cost of maintaining a pet. All living beings require not only food and water, but shelter and medical care. These all cost $$$! And it is their RIGHT BY LAW to receive proper medical care. To deny it is abuse.

Don't go cheap. If you can't afford it, then it is not right for you AT THIS TIME. Why are you asking about cost without doing your homework? Check with chihuahua rescue organizations, humane societies, etc. Ask THEM. But do know that you will also have to have yearly checkups, teeth cleanings (under anesthesia), possible immunizations. And remember the recent pet food recall? Many owners had to suddenly rush their pets to the vet for 3-day hospitalization (approx. $1,000) and their pets still died! Are you prepared for something like that? Pets can get kidney failure, cancer, get hit by a car, get parvo or other problems so you need to be realistic about what is required. It DOES cost money and it ISN'T cheap!

Depends. I have 2 chihuahuas, both of whom I got from the local pound. One came from a breeder, who was trying to sell, and when she couldnt, she dropped them off there, where they either get adopted or euthanized. I got one when he was 7 months and one when she was 1.5 years old. They are both great dogs now. I dont recommend buying from a breeder or anywhere else they are wanting you to pay $1000 or more for a dog. Go to your local animal shelter and see who is up for adoption. Its sad to see all those unwanted dogs/puppies. Thats why I choose not to go through breeders, but to rescue one from euthanization. You may not get exactly an all black long haired 8 week old puppy, but a lot of times, if you are patient, and go back every few days, you'll find a great companion like we did!!! Our shelter gets over 150 animals every week.

Too much, seriously.. I want a teacup Chiuhuahua, but I will wait until one needs a new home, i'd rather adopt than buy. Money is not the issue, I just prefer to give a home to a dog in need of a home..

But, anyhow - prices vary, dependant upon where you live, and the local competition (other breeders)...

depend's on where your getting it, and if its a miniture, they cost more money most of the time. Either way there still very small.
