I'm in the same situation right now. My boyfriend and I have tried it and it is a good way to express yourself without actually being with the person. Try describing what you would be doing to each other if you were together (i.e. positions you like doing or want to try, where and how you'd touch him, etc). Also I don't know what you are into but it does help you get turned on and more vocal if you masterbate while having phone sex...and he'll love hearing you say you are touching yourself, no doubt haha.
