I had a Navy guy come to our school for and a talk. and he said "I will always have a roof over my head". True or false?

thanks

Absolutely true, "you will always have a roof over your head".
If you are assigned to a ship you will live aboard. If you have a family you can get an allotment to help pay for a place to live ashore with your wife and kids.
If you stationed at a shore installation you will live in the barracks or with a family you can live ashore.

I enjoyed (for the most part) 21 years in the Navy more than 12 of them aboard submarines. I always had a place to lay my head. If you are not at sea and are married, or course you maintain a rental, apartment or buy a house for your family and the Navy gives you a housing allowance. If you are unmarried, you can live on the Naval Base in barracks, Bachelor Officers Quarters or can rent housing off-base. Now, having said all this, some sailors (surface ships, tenders, destroyers, frigates, etc.) can live on their ships year round. So the answer is TRUE.

I was in the Navy for 6 years. I never lived on a ship. The Navy guy was telling the truth.. but honestly it depends upon what job you are in, with some jobs you will NEVER go to sea. However, in every instance your housing is provided for. When people were not at sea there are residential communities on base, or you can get off base housing. If you opt for off base housing the military appends the money that you pay for that (rent, etc.. ) to your pay. If you are single, you usually get put into the barracks, which are like college dorms. You can move off of the base if you choose, in that instance. If you are married on base houses are available to you and your family, if they are not, off base housing can be found.

I'm not sure where they go from there. But after there time is up or whatever a house apartment. Some go on base.Or whatever. But I'm in R.O.T.C. So I know alot about the navy, military, moraines and air force. But I'm pretty sure he meant that he was never without a home during his time he was serving. Cuz alot of ppl have to worry about a place to stay. So that's true. Do you have R.O.T.C at your school? If so you should join. I hope I helped.

Married members live just like anyone else...house, apartment, townhome. The single members who do not receive BAH utilize the ship as their "barracks." So the answer to your question is true.

As long as you are single, there's the base housing (barracks), and SOQ (single officers' quarters). Married servicemen and women get a living allowance for their families but it ain't much. Stay single.

They pay rent or a mortgage just like everyone else here in America, unless they have housing on base.
