Freddie Mercury had 8 octave range. I'd like to hear Celene Dion croak out anything resembling that.

To me, these are the best vocal male / female singers to have ever graced the Grammys 2007:-

* Best Vocal Performance is by Christina Aguilera for "Ain't No Other Man";

* For the Best Vocal Performance is by John Mayer for "Waiting on the World to Change";

* Best Female R&B Vocal Performance is by Mary J. Blige for "Be Without You";

* Best Male R&B Vocal Performance is by John Legend for "Heaven".

Cheers :)

Mariah Carey is the East Coast Queen and she's got the best voice ever. Christina Aguilera is good too.

females; Christina Aguilera is amazing, her vocals cannot be beat! Hayley Williams from Paramore, her voice is pure rock!

males; Freddy Mercury, only one person comes close (Mika) to his amazing talent. Mika kicks butt too! Some other males with great voices, Usher, oh my! He's amazing! JC Chasez, is wonderful! Patrick Stump & Brendon Urie have nice rock voices too!

The best singer I ever heard was Sherrill Milnes.
His voice was warm, expressive, huge. Though an opera singer he could sing pop ballads with stunning power and sexiness.

And ladies, he is a very handsome man. Much older now he once was a world wide star and frequent guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

When it comes to pop voice singers there are too many to mention from many different genres. Ozzy in his prime before drugs ruined him. Manilow. Johhny Cash. Celine of course. Carey. Whitney Houston. Cass Elliot, Elvis (middle period)

ROY ORBISON - WOW!!!!

Meatloaf

Vince Gill

And a Christian tenor - Steve Green - Sandi Patty

If you ever heard, Shirley Ceasar? Or Ella Fitzgerald?

and the best phrase singer ever - Sinatra

many more

I have one recording out there millions seem to love.

Mariah Carey had it, but I'm not sure what she did with it. Her and Freddie Mercury, both something like 8 octaves. Almost unhuman.
