Of COURSE they do. Scientology is all about brainwashing.

Read here about the use of mind control and brainwashing in Scientology (this article was written by Monica Pignotti, Cult Intervention Specialist and former Scientologist): http://www.freedomofmind.com/resourcecenter/groups/s/scientology/pignotti/

Here is more information about Scientology "TR's", or Training Routines (which are billed as a way to improve communication skills, but whose real purpose is to plant the seeds for thought control): http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Secrets/TR/

Scientology exerts control over its members by means of typical cult tactics, including but not limited to controlling information about internal doctrine & criticism of the organization, severely restricting social contact outside the cult (including the practice of “disconnecting” with any family who question the credibility & trustworthiness of the cult), creating an “us against them” mentality by villainizing a specific out-group (for Scientology, it’s psychiatrists), & claiming all those outside the cult are unenlightened.

Definition: A method for systematically changing attitudes or altering beliefs, originated in totalitarian countries, esp. through the use of torture, drugs, or psychological-stress techniques.

Brainwashing is a myth, the only brainwash techniques ever develop were used by the CIA and the KGB and they never work. Also they did required the use of drugs and total isolation for at least 40 days. I'm sorry but it is imposible to brainwash anyone, that is just stuff that you see in the movies not in real life. But yes, society uses the term brain wash for anyone that has a way diferent point of view. Is an expresion that means "he has her (him ) convinced", that's all.
Scientologist are not more brainwashed than Christians or Republicans. They just have a diferent point of view.

All religion needs its followers to follow without question. It is nothing but a game of power and control. All followers by definition have very little free will, no matter how hard they protest otherwise. Washed, rinsed and dried.

No more than any of the other manmade religions like christianity, catholicism, judeaism, hindism, muslim, et al. At least they are honest in that respect, and acknowledge that their leader made up all of the stuff.
