I try to be nicer online than I am in real life. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm a terribly cruel person, it's just that one mean comment can have a lot more effect online because you don't hear my tone of voice, see my expression, etc. I try to hold those in.
Other than that, I think it's fairly accurate. Although it's just only one aspect of me, because I mainly only ever post about religion.

My online persona pretty much matches who I am in real life. I don't believe in "playing a jerk on the internet but it's only pretend, I'm not really that way". I think that more of the TRUE personality comes out when veiled in the cloak of anonymity, because there are few to no repercussions for letting your "inner jerk" out... except for the repercussions you put on yourself.
So if in your heart you think it's okay to attack someone or make fun of them or abuse them, and the only reason you DON'T do it in "real life" is because society says it's wrong, but you choose to do it online - to me, that says that at your core, you're a jerk and the "pretend you" is what you show to society and "real life"... because they'd kick your a$s if you let your true self show.

I came here looking for answers about why organized religion is so popular, and why so many people can believe in something that is so separated from reality.
I am the same on here as I am off. I don't discuss politics and religion at work though because that would be inappropriate as well as idiotic

This is definitely the real me. I think some people do use this place to vent a little. But I admit that I say things here that I would normally keep to myself.

My online personality says things I wish I could say in real life so we're similar but not the same.

In all honesty, I doubt we would have courage in the "real world" to type the things we type, such as our real thoughts, our outbursts, our desires, egos, etc.
This is the alternate world that everyone feels comfortable facing, because between what we type and where we are at we have a boarder, our computers.
Whenever we want we can walk away, where as in the real world we are meant to face day by day.
So I feel that who we are here is real, who we are outside of our computers is to please the "real world" and its norms, politics, beliefs, etc.

To be honest, my online and real-life personalities differ slightly.
I behave more "carefully" in real life.
Online: I am trying to escape the real world ! I can be whatever I want !

I am pretty much the same. The only thing here that I don't like is the lack of tone and facial expressions. I think many people are taken wrong because it is hard to read how someone meant for it to sound, you know. :)

Yes, they match, but my online personality is more to the point, since people online don't really "know" me.
