I've always heard that in Christianity Suicide is the only unforgiveable sin. Apparently because God gives you life so it's a sin to end your own, or something like that. Correct me if i'm wrong but if somebody murders, they take someone elses life. I've never heard anything about that being unforgiveable. So how can it be so bad to end your own life willingly but not to take someone elses life when they still want to live? Either way, aren't your ending the life that God has given you? Sometimes the life of many.

Sin implies existence of God. There's no evidence of that so God doesn't exist. Therefore suicide is not a sin it's just a stupid thing to do. Wasting the only life you ever get is not the smartest thing you could do with your time.

Is Suicide An Unforgivable Sin

In Christianity, Christ died for the sins people would commit: past, present, and future (that includes suicide). People have said that suicide is unforgivable because the person committing it cannot repent from it. It is not however unforgivable according to the Bible.

Suicide is not and never was considered the unpardonable sin by any Bible believing group.

There are people who claim to be Christian but don't follow the Bible. They are the ones who claim that suicide is the unpardonable sin.

Jesus said in Matthew chapter 12:31, that the only sin that can't be forgiven is sin against the Holy Spirit.

31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

If you want to know what tha means, you'll need to read the whole chapter. Don't expect to understand it without reading the whole chapter.

Actually the "unforgivable sin" thing is part of Catholic dogma. This, I believe, is because Catholocism says that you must go to the priest, confess your sins, and be absolved of them through some kind of pennance in order to be free of sin. Obviously, if you've committed suicide, you cannot do those things which are required for the forgiveness of sins and therefore you cannot go to Heaven.

You can, however, be absolved of any other sin that you confess to a priest.

You are incorrect. Suicide is not an unforgiveable sin. Find out the truth next time, before you start questioning christianity.

This is because any sin is only forgivable if the person who commits it repents and is truly sorry. If one commits murder they have time in their life for their heart to change and to become sorry for what they did. But with suicide you are ending your life and thus u don't have the time to change your heart and repent for the sin. Your own life is also the most precious gift God as given us and commiting suicide is like throwing it back in his face.

Look.Suicide is an Unforgivable sin because after you killed yourself, you have no changes to be forgiven but If you try to kill yourself but failed and lived, than you have the changes to forgive yourself from these sins.

Even If you take somebody's life away, you have the change to ask god for forgiveness and be saved from sin itself which the Devil (Satan) created.

Its common since basically. Once your died, you're done.

I'm an atheist, but think this out.

Suicide, you kill, you can't ask for forgiveness.
Murder, you kill, you can ask for forgiveness.

Make sense? It's not that it's an "unforgivable sin". It's only that you can't ask forgiveness after-the-fact.

Blasphemy of the holy spirit is the only unforgivable sin.

Added: Mind you, I don't believe any of this, but I thought I'd try to help ya out anyway.

This is a very difficult one. Several murderers in the Bible have found forgiveness and reinstatement, Moses and David being two of them. And yet suicide is said to be the ultimate sin. My understanding is that a suicide is finally turning his back on God and God's ability to deal with the problem that is driving them to such a course of action. Judas, for example, was closing his mind to the possibility of finding forgiveness from the God Who is rich in mercy. However, we must recognise too that many people who attempt to take their lives are not in their right mind and therefore cannot be said to be fully responsible for their actions.
