I've never heard of a remote with no buttons before. It could be an 'iRemote' modeled after the iPhone, which also doesn't have any buttons.

Are the batteries ok?
I used one of the universal remotes before but it didnt work on my DVD player-maybe it was from a different time-space-continuum
