Sure they covered Merlin, A woman prophet, the Mayan’s, Chinese, and even the Bible’s Revelations … but NEVER did any of these prophets say “2012” … so, I was wondering where did the History Channel pull this out from?

The Mayan calendar was made to revolve/rotate. So when one cylce ends another begins. The calendar stops Dec. 21,2012. That does not mean the Earth ends, we just start the cycle over.
The Mayan's were very into nature and the calendar is very accurate, as well as interesting. Please invest some time reading about it. People are becoming more concerned with the 2012 date, and it would be to your benefit to have knowledge on the subject.

LOL....People have been making guesses since Jesus returned to Heaven. Jesus and God Almighty have said, "Only Almighty God knows the year, the day, & the hour of Jesus' return." So, I have never placed much trust in mortal humans predictions, but I have followed the prophesies and watched one by one in rapid succession them being met.

But those who believe or simply study Biblical prophesy do say & having read The Bible many times, I believe they are right to say, that now, ALL of the preemptive prophesies in The Old & New Testament, concerning The Great Tribulation beginnings have been met, BUT for the prophesy that The Bride of Christ (all living Christians) & the innocent (the unborn, the babes in arms, & young children) will be "caught up" (raptured=modern day man's word) to be with Jesus & spared the Great Tribulation & The Antichrist.

The day, millions from around the world suddenly, in an instant, disappear from the face of the Earth, everyone not saved who witnesses this event on Earth will know then that The Great Tribulation is beginning.

Prophets did predict a cataclysmic period for Earth, possibly its destruction, when the Earth passes through the Galactic Rift again, in December 2012.

They just happened to be *Mayan* Prophets, not prophets of the Abrahamic deity.

And History Channel did not say it WAS going to happen, they just pointed out the workings of the Mayan Calendar.

There are people who look at some religious texts and other documents like the Mayan and Chinese calenders. Often these dates are not consistent. There are also scientists who track meteor's paths through the galaxy and are able to see when they (if ever) hit the earth. Was the topic about the Mayans? Chinese? or Meteors hitting the earth?

They claim the Mayan calendar runs out in the later part of 2012 and that it will mean the end of the world.

Any research into the Mayan calendar reveals that it doesn't "run out" but rather cycles over to the next day, just like the gregorian calendar. There is no "end" on a calendar.

The world shifts and twists and changes, each earthquake and volcano adds and detracts from its mass and balance. I think that it is changing, for better or worse, who is to say? Maybe bad for humans, fish, mammals? It was certainly bad when the dinosaurs were eradicated from existence when the asteroid hit some 65 million years ago. But that opened the door for mammals. The end of the line for man? Possible. Anything is possible I suppose. But we are being kind of big headed to think we can destroy a planet. The earth will be here long after man has destroyed himself. As George Carlin once said, the earth will shake us off like a bad case of the fleas. Just my opinion.

They had to have gotten it from the Mayan calendar, which ends in 2012. But it has NOTHING to do with the end of the world--it actually means the end of an era in history.

They say the mayan calendar ends in 2012 and that's indicative of the end of the world, but that's crap because i can double click my system clock here on my PC and it goes all the way to 2099....... So that means the world's really going to end in 2099!!!

(it also begins at 1980, so according to that calendar the world will only be 119 years old when it's destroyed in 2099!!)

first Nostadamus "Prophesisied this", then the mayan calendar ends that year. So they think it has meaning. Also there is a specific day for the Mayan calendar. December 22 2012, is when the mayan calendar ends.
