I wouldn't say it's acceptable until you're an adult. I don't believe in children having any meaningful sense of sexuality. I also think people become adults at different ages. I personally reached adulthood around 18-19, but I've met people who are 30 year old children.

Pleased don't lump the American and British together as a "society". That's just plain ridiculous. You think the British have the same attitudes as Americans? Even within the American system the socially acceptable age changes depending upon one's ethnicity, religious background, social standing, etc.

So, you don't want cr*p about "when you are ready" but consider the fact that "socially acceptable" varies depending upon the group you are asking.

Maybe reask your question and be more specific about this.

Here is my answer to your question, based on an American, not British, middle class, adult opinon............22.

Hey! Your definition of society is pretty vague bub!

If you consider that the reason for sex was procreation not for funsies and the potential result of having sex is a B-A-B-Y.... I'd say have sex when you are certain you are ready for the responsibility of parenthood!

So, the socially acceptable age for being a parent? Let's try 25 to 30!

Why do you want what society thinks? I am an American of British decent and not of the old fudy dudies either. However, when it comes to something so personel and sacred as your virginity; just remember that once it is gone it is gone forever.
you want it to be the most fullfilling and meaning ful experience ever. So why not wait until you marry the one you know you love and that will love you back forever. This is my personel feelings about it.

I think between 17 and 19 is "normal" and "socially acceptable". Any younger, and the girl would be labeled as promiscuous.

Well if you want to hear when its 'socially acceptable' I would have to agree that it would be 18.

Its not necessarily what I think.
