An African American?

ROTFLMAO.

He was an ancestor of an African who was transported to America? You have to be joking. Care to give some of the names of the Biblical scholars that think that Jesus came from a continent that was unknown to the Roman Empire.

If he even existed he was not African. He would have been Middle Eastern. Judea is part of the Asian continent not African.

Is his message more important than his ethnicity. Yes. Why does it take a fictional character to persuade people that that message is important enough to follow?

Well technically he was not an African American. He never lived in Africa (according to the Bible), and America wasnt even established until 1776 years after his birth. It is likely though that if Jesus was real, that he was dark skinned because he did live in Israel which is a very hot and sunny climate. I dont know if he would actually be black, but it's likely he had the skin color of many people from the Middle East do today. Unlike the racist Christians to always portray Jesus as a white man.

No I don't agree.
The African Americans here are very upset by your statement as they are not Jews, and don't want to be called Jews. Jesus was a Jew and they are not, (so they claim) but I am sure that you have researched and come to the conclusion that African Americans are all Jews.. So I won't contest that part..
The part that I don't agree with is Jesus message of tolerance and acceptance. His message was repent because the Kingdom of God is at hand..

Then most Biblical Scholars are ignorant buffoons.

First of All NO AMERICA WHEN HE WAS AROUND.

Second He was a Jew.

Name Ten who have concluded that he was African American.

Too hard?

Name three.

Still to hard?

Name One.

You are a racist. If its important for you to have a African American Jesus then you go right ahead and worship one. However per Galatians you will be under a curse. Twice over.

Good luck.

Tim, Jesus was a Jew. He was the descendant of David.

Look at the lineage of David and you will conclude that he was semitic Jew with both Japhetic and Hamitic ancestors.

It does not make him an African American, or any other kind of African.

But, what's the point? Why make up things to make ourselves feel better?

Saying he's African American is as dumb as showing him with golden locks and a swedish nose.

He was a Hebrew Jew.

Next!

I have no idea what Bible scholars you're reading, and would love to hear your sources. I read theological and doctrinal works all the time, both historical and contemporary, both liberal and conservative, and I have NEVER come across that claim.

Besides, there was no such thing as America back then, so how on earth could Jesus be African American?

Pretty much everyone agrees he was Jewish.

Once again, please back this up with your sources. I'm genuinely interested.

Jesus was from the house of Judah, which means he was of Jewish ancestry. He could not have been an "African American," because America did not exist during his time. And no, his ethnicity should not be an issue; although his deceptive pictures show him as a white, effeminate man.

Do you have any proof? I wouldn't care if He was African American, but where's the proof? (Actually, He couldn't be African AMERICAN because African Americans are Africans - or blacks who live in America; IF He was black, He was only African - without the "American" tag - since His life was spent in the mid-east.) And yes, I do agree that His message is more important than His ethinicity (though personally, I don't believe He was black). What do you think?

2007-07-06 06:52:23 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 2 0

Well his ethnicity maybe less significant than his message that I accept.

However you create another problem of Israels claim to be Gods chosen people.

It would make much scripture redundant.

Mind you scholars have in many ways already done this I suppose.

I have heard everything now. Actually most Bible scholars would agree he was Jewish. So get your facts straight. Stop believing garabage and do some research. Jesus is God born to a Jewish family, by a virgin.
