WOW! This sounds like the anti vitamin propaganda being spread around the world by the UN. Massive doses of vitamin C can give you diarrhea but is by far, mostly helpful.

Edit;
I stand corrected! Large doses of vitamin C for a period of about a week can cause spontaneous abortions in about 1/2 the women who try it. If it has Bioflavonoid in it, it may not work. Side effects are generally mild.

Women have been inducing abortions with herbs and natural substances for hundreds of years, but many, many of these women have also died from complications and infections after these abortions. I urge you to proceed with extreme caution if you try this and, better yet, don't try it at all. These are abortions, not miscarriages. "Miscarriage" is not a medical term; it's a layperson term. Any loss of an embryo or a fetus is considered an abortion, whether it's spontaneous/natural or induced/elective/therapeutic. Most sources say the amount of Vitamin C needed daily would be in excess of 6 grams (6000 mg). One to three grams is considered a toxic dose, and it can result in kidney and gallbladder stones, along with the usual nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting that can accompany toxic doses of water-soluble vitamins. If you've researched, you also realize that just taking toxic doses of Vitamin C won't induce an abortion. Most sites recommend the use of pineapple (orally) and parsley (taken as a tea and also inserted in the cervix to cause dilation). And most sites state that this must be done before the third week of pregnancy. One big, big issue post-abortion is that the uterus must be cleaned (called a D&C--dilation and curettage--here in the United States) to make sure no tissue or embryonic parts remain, as this will cause a serious and potentially deadly infection. I have had no experience in herb- or vitamin-induced abortions. I have volunteered at a crisis pregnancy center for over 10 years, dealing with women who are pregnant, who might be pregnant, who are considering abortion, and who have had abortions (spontaneous or induced). You don't mention what country you live in, and I can't tell from your previous Question or your profile. I realize some countries/cultures can be very, very judgmental of premarital sex and pregnancy outside marriage, so this is a decision you will ultimately have to make yourself and possibly with the help of your partner. If at all possible, if you decide to abort, I encourage you to have it done safely by a medical professional. I have never talked to a woman who has had an abortion who wasn't emotionally and sometimes physically scarred by the experience. You will of course do what you must do, and at my Pregnancy Center we don't judge women who have to make difficult decisions; we support them and love them no matter what, because we're all human beings. I will be thinking about you!

Yes. It has been documented as a home remedy abortifacient. The quantities that you would have to take are enormous. Here is a site about it: http://www.sisterzeus.com/vit_c_ab.html

I sincerely hope you are asking this out of curiosity, but judging by your recent questions you may be facing an unwanted pregnancy. If you have an unwanted pregnancy please go to the local Planned parenthood to discuss ALL your options (adoption, abortion, keeping it). Planned Parenthood will have all the info you need for any option you choose. They will get you in contact with the proper organizations and people (potential adopter, WIC, prenatal care, etc) They will also help you get birth control and proper sex ed after your pregnancy. They also help lower income people, especially if you are a student.

If you do choose abortion, have it done by a licensed doctor in a sterile and safe environment. It is not a DIY process. Doing so could cause endless problems for you down the road.

thats ridiculous. its a water soluble vitamin and, if you take in excess it will be thrown out of your body very easily by your kidney. and vit c is the least toxic among the vitamins. there is no evidence in any research paper that has shown that vit c causes abortion (i am talking about medical research)

High doses of Vitamin C can do a lot of damage to an individual even if you aren't pregnant. Please ask your doctor before taking it while pregnant!
