Abandoned buildings seem to always get neglected to the point there more of a danger then anything. After so much time with no one claiming a building and doing something with it, it probably should be tore down. What will happen otherwise is they will turn into drug havens, or homeless will take shelter and often end up burning the place down or making themselves targets, a good place for criminally minded people to hang out and plot who knows what (and I don't think we really want to know what) or curious kids to go exploring and getting hurt or worse.

If at all possible, abandonded buildings should be fixed up and re-used. This uses much less resources then building a new building and creates much less waste then knocking it down. If the building simply can't be reused though it should be torn down in a responsible manor. Many parts of the building could be reused or recycled even if the building it'self couldn't be. Also, the building should be torn down by methods that create the least amount of pollution possible.

Yes tear them down and build high tech buildings The old ones are just energy insufficient no matter what you do to them. You have to remember those are building that our grand and great grandparents built out of sticks and mud kind of like living in a grass hut compared to the new energy efficient materials we have today. But we would have to make sure the builder uses new material and not the old types that we are still selling on the market

if they are structurally sound...then they should be rehabed into a space that would better the community...ie....old factories in my area are being gutted and renovated for upscale condos....lush landscaping the whole deal...looks real nice...

if they pose a danger then they should be demolished. I guess it all depends on what kind of building also. We don't want any shrines of hitler standing either...you get my point

it should be made into something useful instead of being torn down unless it's really bad and unhealthy...like if the paint contains harmful chemicals and it can't really be fixed in terms of air conditioning

but it should really be remolded into a community center or somewhere kids & youth can hang out afterschool or something

I just never understood why people build new homes and new schools when they are already some run down and all they need is to be fixed up, I always thought it would be cheaper this way.
