Okay, the whole dueling pianos thing is ridiculous. Dueling pianos often are contesting...two pianos played at the same time for a piece of music is exactly the same as two of any instrument: A DUET!

The technical term is a duelet for two people on separate pianos, or an eight-hand duet if both are playing a duet with two people on each piano.

A duet for piano, I know the new thing is to say dueling pianos. But I think that "duet for piano" sounds more formal.

Usually that's called 'dueling pianos' and Ferrante and Teicher popularized it.

They did 'The Apartment' which was very big, a movie theme.
