There are lots of things that are bad for dogs. Here is a link that will show you most of the ones that are bad for dogs. Oinions and Chocolate are the most toxic though.

(There are some fruits and vegetables listed....)

Good luck!

Apple- The seeds contain cyanogenic glycosides which can result in cyanide poisoning.

Apricot -The seed pit contains cyanogenic glycosides which can cause cyanide poisoning.

Avocado Avocado contains a toxic element called persin which can damage heart, lung and other tissue in many animals. Avocadoes are high in fat content and can trigger an upset stomach, vomiting or even pancreatitis. The seed pit is also toxic and if swallowed can become lodged in the intestinal tract where it may cause a severe blockage which will have to be removed surgically. Since avocado is the main ingredient in guacamole be sure and keep your dog out of the dip.

Those are some and the reason they are toxic to dogs...

Onions are toxic, they cause anemia, so avoid them. My dogs like potatoes, carrots, peas, pears, apples, raisins. The list will probably expand as the pug vies with the kitten for who can eat whatever I can. Raw foods with oxalic acids[crystals?] should be cooked first...spinach and similar greens. I would avoid highly gassy veggies such as broccoli or brussel sprouts. Dogs have enough gas as it is. I've heard raisins are supposed to give them the squirts, but it is a very popular treat for my bunch and nobody's ever gotten the poops. Just add the variety in small bits and slowly so the dog's digestive tract gets used to the variety. The trouble with most dog diets is that we tend to feed the exact same thing day in/day out and they get very sensitive to change. If you vary the diet wisely, they get to be pretty tolerant of most food.

I have always heard that onions and peppers are not good for dogs - can make them sick. I did hear a vet a the Today show a couple of months ago that said carrots were good for them. The dogs like the sweet crunchiness. Also, my boss's dog loves apples and they have never hurt him. If you want the best advise, call a local vet and ask.

Veggies are generally good for dogs. They are, after all, omnivores (like humans). Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and beans will, however, make it most unpleasant to be sleeping in the same room with them. ;-)

My dog likes the stalks of collards, my cat likes the leaves. So when I'm making the iguana dinner, everyone hangs around until I give them their treats.
