The doctrine of hell led me away, as well as the teaching that Christianity is the only true religion. As a teenager, I just decided that it doesn't fit with how I see people and the world around me. When I learned about the theory of evolution, it just didn't fit with the creation story of Genesis. Neither did the big bang theory fit with the idea the earth is 6000 years old. Finally, I learned that the Hebrew Bible has been mistranslated many times to fit with the ideas of the New Testament, or Christian Bible. These are the main factors which led me away from Christianity.

Lack of good women that don't want a tall handsome man with a fat wallet...lol
Seriously, I am not away from the Christian faith. Just dormant. Besides, working with a bunch of bible beaters don't help the cause that much.

I've fallen away several times. My main thing was finding believers that believed what the bible taught (don't get this confused with nonbelievers that don't believe anything about the bible). Preachers have a habit of "adding to" or "taking away" from the word of God and this I struggled with. I just found a church recently that bases EVERYTHING on scripture. You ask a question, the evangelist backs it up with the word (and doesn't take it out of context). This is very important to me.

Reason...in the end. At first it was unanswered questions about the trinity that started my doubting. Then I went on a spiritual search that got me nowhere. Then an in-depth study of the Bible convinced me of it's human manufacture and falseness. Reading Thomas Paine's "Age of Reason" was like an epiphany. The rest was an inevitable evolution of reason.

To be very nice, The christian understanding of GOD is a much smaller version of what I have come to know to be GOD. So I guess I simply out grew it, or perhaps you could say that I let GOD out of the box and was unable to fit him back in.

reason and the bible just didnt make any sense whatsoever to me. science proves so much that the bible would never be able to. i find it so odd, my friend said she didnt believe in dinosaurs until the BIBLE SAID SO. its soo funny how people basically live their lives off a book that is likely false. i mean if you had the choice, you were about to die and need surgery, would you pray to god for him to heal you, or would you trust science and a doctor ? of course you would choose the doctor, once again science prevails religion. some of the things people believe just blows my mind

i was friends with the pastor of my churches daughter. there he is preaching about girls and dating to young. and to find there his daughter is dating and got pregnant. she was sneaking out the house. i happened to see the window nailed and asked and she told. so sad. so i quit going to church. but i still believe in the bible. she even had a kid with the guy. left him. and then she was dating other guys. she even got back with the boy's dad. the guy even hit her and she was seen on the highway getting hit in the car by the guy. today they are married and have a daughter also. so yeah you gotta watch the preachers kids they can be some little devils. not all but some.

I still consider myself to be a christian. I just don't feel the need to run down to church every sunday and donate my pay check. I can worship god from the comfort of my own home.

Christians saying the christianity and Catholism aren't the same. Even tho Catholic is just a sub category like baptist or lutheran.
Just like people saying steel and metal is different. even though Steel is a kind of metal.
