I've never seen it before, and I am wondering how many people liked it and would recommend it, and maybe tell me a little more about it? Thank you in advance.

I was 9 years old when I saw the original, with Ted Neely and Carl Anderson, and it has remained my favorite movie and music for 34 years. I love it, and I listen to the soundtrack everyday, it never becomes tiring.

The movie is a masterpiece, those who would dis it don't really understand it. The film chronicles the last 7 days of Jesus through the eyes of Judas. The Last Supper is priceless, pay special attention here, and the squaring off of Jesus and Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane is a classic.

Interestingly, I tried to locate a DVD copy through our local Christian bookstore--I can't order on-line because I don't have a credit card. They refused to order a copy for me. I obtained the movie and CD because one of the Christians in this forum was nice enough to send his copies to me. Thanks to him, my 12 year-old son has taken a liking to it also, he never tires of it either.

I'm with Giovanni Gezus on this one, it's fantastic. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

I've seen it a few times, and love the soundtrack. It was very controversial when it first came out, and Christians protested it as insulting to their religion. The movie especially ended with Jesus still on the cross. The later performances end with Jesus being lifted off the cross into heaven.

Has some nice music and lyrics (if you like Lloyd Webber). If you have the chance, go see it. Or buy the soundtrack. The movie is uneven but still good.

Jesus Christ Super Star was just an entertaining movie..Of course it was viewed by zealotts as being blasfamous and they tried to boycott even way back when. I can't remember too much of the actual film but I can tell you I saw it more than once..

My guess is that it might seem kind of stupid now like some old movies do when you try to go back in time, but I would watch it again just to take a trip back onto the 70s..Why not?

Are you talking about the original or is it coming around again? I saw it in the 70's and I've seen the movie.

No I wouldn't recommend it. The music is pretty good.

The play is a very human view of the story of Christ. It does not even attempt to understand it from a spiritual perspective. That makes it just another secular play.

If you go with the 1973 movie directed by Norman Jewison, I have to say that I love it. The music is great, and the whole Jesus and the apostles thing fits in very well with the hippie culture of the late 1960's. Two Thumbs Up.

Jeff Fenholt played Jesus. It should be on VHS or DVD at Blockbuster or Netflix. Its OK if you like musicals. Not the best though.

The stage play, with Teddy Neeley in the title role, was a classic. Very well done, and I've seen it probably a dozen times, live. The original Broadway production album is one of the great records of all time.

The movie, however, is so bad....perhaps you should see it just to see what I mean.

It just might be the worst movie ever made.

Great music and singers - Ian Gillan, Olivia Newton John..., the movie from the 70's is really groovy, and hippish, it captures the time at which it was made like Star Trek does.

Didn't care for the movie, but the live production was really pretty moving. Ancient memories, though.
