My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years and will certainly get married, we have the most open and honest relationship. Recently we both decided to start having sex. We are only waiting to get married because we want to save money and finish college. So is it bad to have sex before you are legally married, even though you are already 100% committed to each other and already married in your heart?

I'm guessing you are somewhat religious since you are asking this question. If that is the case, then you should know that, in biblical times, the first sexual act between the couple was the point of marriage. In God's eyes, it's about your commitment to each other, not the piece of paper that is required by today's laws in many places. So if you never sleep with anyone else, you have not gone against any laws laid out in the bible. You have not even committed premarital sex by biblical terms if you are committed to eachother for life.

In the UK, lots of people just live together for a long time. Living like Husband and Wife. Marriage is expensive here so a lot of people don't bother. However, if you are a religious person then this kind of thing matters. In my view it doesn't.. its about love and making love is part of that.. and as you can tell I'm not religious. So my views are.. do what you feel your heart wants... and enjoy.. love is hard to find.. Oh and make sure your safe.. ie. use protection.

you have sex when you're ready to have sex. Those ideas of no sex before marriage are stupid concepts from people with closed minds and low self-steem.Those puritans are the worse people in this world and the most dirty ones. So,go ahead and don't pay attention to those scums.

if you both decided to have sex then you should be aware of any consequences it may come. a wrong action can lead both of you to hell, and i guess you both love each other just wait for the perfect time to raise a family. you'll both grow (individually as well) plus you'll know him better. im happy for you :) take care and god bless!

It is your own choice.....when YOU are ready.

Personally my fiance and I began having sex 4 1/2 months into our relationship (we were 18)....now almost 7 years later we're planning our wedding.

Just use protection and talk about what were to happen if pregnancy occurred.

i think its great that you have waited this long. its probably what cemented your relationship. yes, its a sin and its good that it bothers you, but its just one of many sins that we commit. it doesnt make it right, but it gives some perspective

any relationship that last 2 years without sex is rock-solid.

Yes, it is. I don't understand why yoa'll couldn't have just waited after you were married. That's where self control is supposed to come in. But you can't change what's done is done...just stop having sex until you are married.....geesh Just wait!

God Bless

Is it "bad"? If you're both over 18, it's legal, if that's what you're asking.

However, whether you think it's bad or not depends entirely on your own personal beliefs, which can be influenced by religion, upbringing, and so forth.

You should get married first. It just makes sense morally. You are not condemned for that though.Try to wait until you get married before you do that again.
