Is your hamster getting on in years? Hamsters only live 2-3 years. Also, I used to have a hamster and he got wettail, which is a disease that causes hamsters to be weak, shaky, lose their appetite, and smell really bad. They get diarrhea which makes their tail look wet hence the name, wettail.

There are over the counter remedies that you can get at a petstore, but since you presumably have a vet for your cat and dog, I'd recommend asking him/her for advice. If it is wettail and the petstore meds don't work it might be too late to call the vet.

I hope your hamster feels better and that it isn't anything serious.

Hello, I'm a hamster owner and know a lot and really i mean a lot about hamsters! Female hamsters get into "heat" every 4 or 5 days, so that is probably why her cage is so smelly, does she sleep in a few different places? does she move a lot around her cage? your hamster storing food is completely normal, she wants to keep it safe and so she can save it for later incase you might take it and that's why she does it because she is scared, every hamster hoards food!, even mine! WARNING, DEFINENTLY move her away from ur cat and dog, she is very shy because she is afraid the dog and cat harm her again, so once she is moved away, hold her a few times ( at night since they are nocturnal ) do not wake her in the day as much as possible unless she needs to see a vet or something important! make sure she always has water, food, rest and feels safe! u will be able to get her this tame anytime soon! is it a Syrian/Golden hamster?

My hamster smells the same way, but he's perfectly fine. It could be the type of food. Get some type of wheel for her to run on and lose some weight.

Hi, i think that your hamster is getting too many fruits/veg and the urine and smell is a side effect of that. Cut back some and you should see a difference.

you're not supposed to feed hamsters too many greens and other things besides their normal hamster seed mixture food. no more than twice a week should they be allowed to have carrots, apples, lettuce any of that!
