When you worship a god who has no qualms about wiping out a city or two; or all the first born male children in a country; or every single human being except for one family; then what's a few million deaths here or there?

That's not the point. The point of having free will is that people get to choose how they want to live their lives (good or bad). I think that Hitler and Bid Laden and every other psycho out there that brings harm to another person deserves whatever they get (shot, bombed, etc). Unfortunately when it comes to "Free Will" you can't pick and choose who gets it. It's an all or nothing deal. What we, as people, choose to do with that gift is up to us.
P.S. I'm not a Christian but felt compelled to answer this anyway.

Remember that those who agreed with Hitler had free will as well and a lot of good people failed to do anything even knowing what this madman was planning.

It was not only Hitler exercising his free will, but also all those who chose to follow him. Sadly many make bad choices that impact others but it is not up to us to be the free will police. After all wasn't that what Hitler was all about?

So, if God does not exist, I guess suffering suddenly becomes acceptable, because life is then totally devoid of any rational meaning.
I see it all so clearly now! "God" is bad because He allows suffering which would not be a problem if only He didn't exist!!!
We wouldn't expect any "better" from a cold, mindless creation that existed for no reason at all!
Thanks! Life's so much better all of a sudden....

Why not let Hitler have free will? He wasn't a prisoner and he will pay for what he's done in Hell.
What I'm more concerned about are Muslim extremists who murder people on a daily basis in the name of "Allah".

why would some have free will and not others? god is a spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth. So if we didn't have free will and some one worshiped God, would it be in truth if they were forced to do it or didn't love God for who he was?

Good question. But they'll have an answer, something about god having reasons that we can't understand.

So if we believe in God, people will do bad things.
But if we don't believe in God, people won't do bad things.
I think they'll do bad things regardless, don't you?
