The web site is www.AnnualCreditReport.com

It is not run by the government, it is run by the 3 credit bureaus TransUnion, Equifax and Experian after a government ruling that everyone had the right to obtain their credit report once a year.

If you wish to use this website wisely I suggest you obtain one credit report from TransUnion in April, Equifax in August and Experian at the end of the year. This way you got your 1 credit report annually from each one of the bureaus and you kept track of your credit report through out the year.

the site is www.annualcreditreport.com. it will not spit out a tri-merged report, so be prepared to go into the individual sites of all three bureaus. you will also be asked some security questions to verify that it's really you, so you might want to have a credit card number or other account number handy.
you are allowed to pull the report for free. if you want your scores you will have to pay for them.
you can pull it once per year...meaning once every 365 days, not once per calendar year.
hope that helps. good luck!

The government does not run a credit report site. Credit reporting agencies are private institutions.
