Sure - it is really part of the Wiccan philosophy. We try to take care of the earth around us and to help those around us. We don't pray for people without their permission, either.

As a Wiccan, I try to be a good steward of my home and my family. I am active in programs for youth (at a local Christian church, even) and I use my professional skills to make donations to those who ask - especially for events.

I don't think Wiccans are any different that people of any other faith in the amount we give - I do think we tend to be more politically active and more involved in environmental issues.

One of my personal environmental issues is to help find a way to stop global warming by getting Al Gore to stop blowing hot air. I think that is a worthy cause. It is more important for cows to fart than for Al to talk.

Wiccans, if they do anything for other people, can morally only do good things. Wiccans follow the Wiccan Rede which states: ""Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An' it harm none,
Do what ye will."

However Wicca is a branch of Paganism and not all Pagans follow the Wiccan Rede. You will find though that most Pagans do an outstanding amount of good as well because most of them adhere to the Threefold Law. The Threefold Law states that everything you do comes back to you on three levels, therefore if one believes in the law it would be pretty stupid to do bad things and pretty smart to do good things.

Personally - I donate blood, money, food, and clothing to local charities on a regular basis. I have also been an animal rescue volunteer for the past 7 years.

Our local Pagan Pride Day collects food donations for the local food pantry.

Our online Wiccan/Pagan forum is really big on supporting fellow members during times of trouble, both online and in person.

Just because we don't have to put a big flag on it that says "We're Wiccan - look how awesome we are! Aren't we great???" doesn't mean that we don't do a significant amount of work for our family, friends, and community.

Having volunteered for and donated to many an environmental charity, from Save the Manatees Club in Florida to Fresh Air Fund in NYC, I am convinced that none can stay afloat without Wiccan/Pagan money and Wiccan/Pagan work.

If a person of any religion or philosophy is a good person, they do good either by teaching by example or doing good things. Its not a matter of being Wiccan or any religion.

Example:
Both Hitler and Mother Teresa were Christian. So what does that say? All religions have good and bad people in them.

But in my coven, I expect good things from my students, and I am not disappointed!

We don't all formally go do something, we do as it is needed, where we can.

Blessed be

A wiccan group that I belonged to when I was still living in southern california several years ago had a volunteer outreach program. They had programs akin to "Big brothers, big Sisters" and every weekend we had a different neighborhood or park that we'd go and clean up. It was alot of fun and the kids really enjoyed it. I had a really young daughter at the time, so I couldn't sponsor a child, but we had lots of fun anyway.

My wife spends 8 hours a week at a food pantry doing the bulk of the adminstration and seeing that little old ladies get fed. (Wiccan for longer than me)

I don't have time because I work 50-60 hours a week at a Cancer research center trying to find a bloody cure for cancer.
(Wiccan for over 20 years)

Good enough for you?

Well sure why would you think otherwise?

About half my money goes to charity. My most common spells are spells of protection that I use on loved ones and people I feel need it. Do you need more examples?

edit: oh yes I forgot. I volunteer a lot too, and recently performed, unpaid, at a benefit concert for poor families.
