No, I'm not an atheist. On the whole, I think I am happy. I get down sometimes, but I don't generally stay down long.
I'm a polytheist, or perhaps a pantheist (still working on that), and a member of the Ethical Society. Many members do call themselves atheists, many call themselves agnostics. But the critical factor is a commitment to values like justice and compassion and important stuff like that. Since many members are atheists, this commitment does not seem to depend on a belief in God, and especially not from a fear of punishment.

I'm not an atheist but many of my friends are, though most are in the closet about it. Funny how everyone I know who is open about being an atheist is moral, kind and very happy.

Atheist? ....... Not quite. While I don't believe there's a god, I believe it's a bit more complicated than that.
Happy? Happiness comes in small doses. It's the light in your children's eyes. It's "I love you, mommy". It's first steps, first words, Loving arms, it's a good book, its a long hot bath. Am I happy? Usually.
Oooo, I forgot warm mink blankets and footed jammies ;-)

I am very happy. Well at least I was until I broke my ribs the other day. I still am happy, just am in a little pain.
