Not sure if a lot of people are gonna know what that is. But yeah....not something pretty. Since I don't believe in God I don't believe that it was intelligently designed at all.

Interesting that you should ask this question at this particular time, since tomorrow (7/7/07) marks a year since I got out of the hospital recovering from this very disease (or at least that was the official diagnosis). I never did find out what the underlying cause was (strep, staph, or some combination of both with or without other organisms), nor could I or the doctors figure out how I contracted it, but at least it was caught before it reached the bone, which would have meant (almost certain?) amputation.
While it is true that creationists believe that God designed everything with a purpose, that is only part of it. For example, they also believe that not everything retains its original good design. A microorganism that had a good design may have, after the fall, lost genetic information that turned a good function into a bad one or acquired genetic information from another organism (via pili transfer or virus transfer, for example) that changed an originally good function into a bad one. It should be noted that not only are microorganisms generally good for life (not all of them are pathogens), but are probably necessary for its existence.

Thats a hot question in physics right now. You see the universes constants and laws are so finely tuned that some people are questioning why in the world is out universe so finely tuned for life. Some choose to believe that there are millions of other universes and we just happen to be in the right one in order to escape the notion that there may be a God. (almost as religious as any other belief) Others embrace there may be a God who organized our laws. Its a rainbow of chaos in contemplation but there is no question that there is something fascinating behind the order in our universe
