Mormons or nonmormons, has anyone been to the jail were Joseph Smith died?

I was told my the mormons in my ward for years that he was tarred and feathed and how bad that was and that when he died in the jail his blood is still stained there, I have always wanted to see the evidence for this myself, because I don't believe it, has anyone seen this blood or lack of...???

That isn't the right story, Allthough he was constantly Tarred and featherd it never killed him.
He was put into jail and a mob came they shot through the door as the men inside the room tried to hold the door, the bullet shot Joseph's brother Hyrum in the face and he died in Joseph's arms, one other man was shot in the pocket watch and crawled under the bed, and the last one also died. Joseph tried to escape out the window but was shot in the process as the mob bursted through the door. He fell out the window.

As a matter of fact I have, I sat in the exact same windowsill that our prophet died in. I sat down and got chills all through my bones (I was only about 7, I didn't know the exact story of his death) and then I was told the story and I just about fell over!!

The place where he died is called Carthage Jail. Yes, he was tarred and feathered. I'm not sure about the blood, my family generally doesn't talk about that. I do know that he was shot. Everything is true, I know this as a fact, though I cannot tell you want to believe. Only you, yourself, can tell yourself what to believe and what to know. If you don't believe it, do you know it?

I suggest going to a temple's visitor center, they usually have much of the information with them.

I'm not saying I am Mormon, I just know some of the stuff.

My hubby served in the Peoria, Illinois mission. Carthage jail was in his mission area, so we have a picture of him sitting in the window that Joseph was shot out of. He said there is still blood there, but it's just the stains, and it is slowly fading.

They also have the mattress that Parley hid behind, and the door is full of bullet holes and marks where it was pried from the frame. If I had a scanner, I would scan it in and show you, but since my scanner bit the big one, I can't. But let me know if you want a copy, I can find a way to get it to you!!!

I went about 11 years ago. The memory of the actually room is a little fuzzy, but I seem to remember them pointing to something on the floor. If it hadn't been pointed out to me, I don't think I would have noticed it.

Never seen it. I'm glad that mob justice doesn't rule anymore. Nowadays, dozens of armed guards will protect a pedophile like Joe from all the angry parents.

Nope, I haven't seen where he died. Is it a Mormon monument of some sort?

I haven't, but I would love to. I've heard from several people that, the room where he was killed, it's very cool, even when the day outside is very hot.
