This one (Luke 18:16-17) is most often used when trying to prove that children and babies automatically go to heaven.
"Let the little children come to me," yes, and why? Because if the parents forbid them, they doom their children! "and do not forbid them; for of SUCH is the kingdom of God." A little child, not filled with and occupied by old concepts, can easily recieve a new thought. Therefore, it's saying that people need to be like little children and, with an unoccupied heart, recieve the kingdom of God as a new thing. (The kingdom of God on earth is Accepting Christ and living IN christ)
"Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." The little child HAS to receive the kingdom of God! Not receiving it dooms them.
Now the next verse (Corinthians 7:14) Someone here mentioned that if a child is sanctified by his parent/s then that child is saved, I'm afraid that is not so. Sanctification and salvation are two different things. To be sanctified does not mean you are saved but that you are made holy because of some attachment between you (the unbeliever) and the believer. So an unbeliever is sanctified FOR the believer.
Now regarding my previous post. The problem with so many "christians" is that they let their emotions get in the way of the truth. As Christians You are supposed to accept the bible as it is but you don't. Face it: The only reason you people believe that babies and children go to heaven is because thats what you want to believe. Not because it's in the bible, it's not. All those "christians" that believe what they want to believe instead of accepting the whole word of God as it is, without twisting it for their own convenience, are not Christians.
And just because I spoke the truth and backed it up with the scripture, yahoo deleted my question ? I guss the truth can be painful. God Bless

The Bible tells us that we are all conceived in sin (Genesis 15:14, Job 15:14 & 25:4, Psalms 51:5). This means that each one of us, from the moment we are conceived, are guilty and worthy of hell. Read ANY of the great theologians such as Augustine, Luther, Calvin or even Aquinas and this is the universal consensus. There is plenty of evidence babies and the ignorant GO TO HELL:
Psalms 58:1
1. Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
4 Their poison [is] like the poison of a serpent: [they are] like the deaf adder [that] stoppeth her ear;
(This says that it is after they are born that they start speaking lies. They say here that there is no exception.)

Central to the argument that babies do not go to hell is the belief that babies and infants are innocent, because they are not old enough to sin. This is utter nonsense. Central to the teachings of Christianity is the proposition that the guilt of Adam derived from the original sin is passed down through the blood through each generation (Genesis 5:3). We are ALL tainted with sin from the moment of conception (Psalms 24:4) and we need the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ to wash away our sins in the eyes of the Lord. So until the born again experience happens, Salvation is not possible. Therefore, babies and unborn babies who die go straight to hell.

You might think that this is "unfair", but it's not unfair at all. Those who do not have the opportunity to receive salvation, who never in their lifetimes hear the gospel preached (eg babies and savages living in jungles), obviously were Predestined by God to go to hell. God makes sure that His elect are able to hear the gospel preached to them during their lifetimes, in order to give them an opportunity which He knows they will take advantage of. But with a lot of the reprobate, He decided not to bother letting them hear the gospel because He had already decided to send them to hell anyway. God knows everything, so if a baby dies, God obviously allowed that baby to die because He knew that if it had lived it would have grown up to be a sinner. I am finished.

"We cannot understand how God became man. We cannot explain it through any concept drawn from our experience. This is inevitable. If God himself is incomprehensible his act in becoming man must also be so." (Christian Theism, Huw Parry Owen T&T. Clark, Edinburg, 1984, p. 30). There is another thing that we don't understand: the source of this "incomprehensible" paradox which is INCOMPATIBLE with the clearest verses of the Bible. Although there are distortions in the existing Bible, the overall message of the Bible can be heard clearly: there is no God besides God; do not worship any except Him. therefore there are few more questions to be asked 1. Why is the Trinity not taught in thirty nine books of the Old Testament? Is it not an important principle of faith? Why didn't Noah, Abraham, Moses, David etc. preach that doctrine? Why did they preach just the opposite (Deuteronomy 4:39; 6:4; 32:39. Exodus 20: 2-3. 1 Samuel 2:2. 1 Kings 8:60, Isaiah 42:8; 45:5-6)? 2. According to the Bible, are we not all children of God? (Matthew 5:9; 6:14, Luke 20:36; John 8:47, 1 John 5:18,19) 3. What about Mark 10:18-19?: "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked. "Only God is truly good!" Do these two verses not clearly state that Jesus was not God? 4. If Jesus is God, what does Mark 13:32 mean?: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor I myself, but, only the Father." If Jesus was Lord, how could he not know the future? 5. What about Mark 12:29: "Jesus replied, 'The one that says, 'Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only God. And you must love him with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.'" What about Matthew 4:10; 6:24, Mark 10:18, Luke 18:19? 6. Matthew 12:17-18 quoting from the Old Testament, states that Jesus was the Servant of God. Is there not any difference between the Servant of God and God? 7. Why do you ignore the verses expressing that Jesus was a "messenger of God" (Matthew 21:11,46; Luke 7:16; 24:19; John 4:19; 6:14)? 8. Why does John 1:18 have a different text in different versions? Did Jesus see God or not? 9. Why are all the verses used to justify the Trinity questionable? For instance, many Christian scholars acknowledge that the crucial word "begotten" in John 1:14,18 and 3:16,18 does not exist in the original manuscripts. Why, is the phrase "son of God" changed into "the only begotten Son of God"?

A baby or a child can go to heaven just as readily as anyone else. We do need to recieve God in our hearts, but it is not accomplished by any action that we take. Accepting Christ is a work that we do and cannot have any part in our salvation. A child can be saved in the womb if it is under the hearing of the word of God, and is numbered among God's elect.

TG took the wrong meaning from those verses. But I think you took the wrong meaning too, babies deserve hell like the rest of us, that doesn't mean that babies are going there. God judges, and yes, he can judge from the womb forward. And since He is God, you can rest assured He will do the right thing and is glorified in His judgements.

When Jesus said 'suffer the little children to come unto me", it was in response to the disciples rebuking the children or the parents, it was not the parents that were holding them back. The disciples were trying to hold the crowd back.
"Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Notice it says kingdom of heaven which is not in reference to the church. It is in reference to heaven.
Children are born sinless. Even those in the Old Testament were aware of this.
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him." Ezekiel 18:20
1 John 3:4 explains that sin is a transgression of the law of God. Sin is not inherited but is the result of not doing what is right. If a baby or child does not know right from wrong, he cannot sin. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. "
The Bible says there are certain things a person must DO BEFORE he can be baptized. A person MUST BELIEVE in Jesus Christ before he can be baptized. Jesus said, “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:16). How do we come to believe in Jesus as the Son of God? It is by hearing the Word of God. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Therefore a person MUST have faith in Christ BEFORE he can be baptized. To be baptized before a person believes is wrong. That baptism is no good! Now let’s ask a question, Can a baby believe in Jesus as the Son of God? We all know the answer is “no!” Then, babies are NOT to be baptized.
A person MUST REPENT of his sins before he can be baptized. The Bible says, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). To repent means to change one’s life from bad to good. To repent means to have a change of mind. A person no longer wants to do things his way, but now he wants to do what the Lord says. Can a baby repent? Can he change his mind and way of life? In no way! Therefore a baby is not to be baptized!
Before a person can be baptized, he MUST also CONFESS his faith in Christ. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9,10). A good example of this is in Acts 8. The man from Ethiopia was being taught by Philip. They came to some water (v. 36). The man from Ethiopia wanted to be baptized. Before Philip baptized him he confessed, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God” (v. 37). After his confession, he was baptized. Baptism came AFTER confession, not before. Can a baby confess his faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God? The answer is a definite “no!” Therefore, a baby is not ready for baptism. What have we learned so far? A person must hear the Word of God. He must believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Then he must repent of his sins. After that, he must confess his faith in Christ as the Son of God. All of this must be done BEFORE a person can be baptized. A person cannot be baptized and then believe, repent and confess. The Bible doesn’t teach it that way. That is why a baby is not to be baptized. A baby CANNOT have faith in Christ. A baby CANNOT confess his faith in Christ. A baby CANNOT repent of his sins for two reasons. First, he has no sins. Second, he couldn’t repent of them if he did have them. Let’s follow what the Bible teaches and then we can all agree. The Bible says, “But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized” (Acts 8:12).
