Would it be irresponsible to use dogma to teach algebra?

You need the threat of eternal damnation.
If I was led to believe that not understanding Algebra would cause me to be tortured for eternity, I would be much more motivated to get it right.

Sounds like my old Algebra teacher.
Still, reality eventually wins but it takes longer and religion hinders it at every turn. Think of all the biblical assertions that people now ignore because they have been proven wrong. How many people believe that there is only one land mass and it floats on water? How many people believe the sun and moon and stars are just lights in the firmament? These are just two examples from the first chapter of the first book of the bible. It took centuries and people died for it but most modern christians have accepted reality.
Still, there's a reason the root word of fundamentalist is fundament whose primary meaning is the buttocks or anus.

If you knew anything about TRUTH then you would realize that 'belief' in anything is but a delusion.
That all concepts are but projections of one's mind!
The 'mind' reaches but can not obtain TRUTH.
Your 'reality' and everyone elses' 'reality' is the result of NOT KNOWNING.
Enlightenment is the solution to all mind pollution.

Belief in God is not something that should be ridiculed just shows your intolerance and ignorance to other views. I believe you have achieved that same type of saturation with many things. The "THEORY" of evolution is one that comes to mind. Scientific theories are just that theories yet many believe in them as well.
