I had a fever yesterday (101 degrees) but its gone today. I also had a headache yesterday but it is gone today. I was very tired and literally slept all day yesterday and all night last night. But I didn't feel naseua.

Oh, and it still hurts very slightly to swallow. I have gotten a lot better but I just want to know what is up. How can I prevent this again, and what was it? Suggestions?

It sounds like you had a slight 24 hour bug. There's really not much you can do to prevent it from happening again, just stay well rested, make sure you're getting enough vitamins (C), and nutrients. If it happens again take some tylenol or motrin with a fever reducer, this will help bring down your temperature and take away the headache. Good Luck!

Possible virus in that case nothing you can do, or could have been a simple strep infection, or a 100 and 1 other things no way of knowing over the internet. Call you doctor.

There is no such thing as a 24 hour flu. Most likely, it was mild food poisoning. Food poisoning occurs when you consume food that is contaminated with bacteria, and just like fighting off a virus, you body turns on it's defenses to kill off the bacteria (you slept because your body was using all it's energy to boost your immune defenses). Since bacteria cells do not reproduce as quickly as virus cells, and since they are often weaker, your body is able to kill them faster. A virus may take three or more days to ward off, with the aid of antibiotics.
