I've always had nightmares with water. The water is always dark and bottomless. When I stress or think alot about something. Last night I was in a huge warehouse full of dark water with my kids. When I woke up my whole body ached.

The water represents a symbolic picture of the unknown psychological energy. It also represents life, because the water is necessary for all living organs on earth. The water itself is seen as female-motherly aspect.

Dreams are just your subconscious mind relaying the problems and joys in your life. They're even said to occur to make you aware of something in your life that you may not be paying enough attention to like your health, finances, relationships, etc. When I was a kid and being physically abused by my evil stepfather I would always dream of tornadoes and drowning. The tornadoes, of course, represent destruction and chaos in one's life and the drowning in my eyes had to do with my dying need to escape the situation. Two people can have the same exact dream and it would mean two completely things to each because the symbols in dreams are personalized and may mean something different to each person. I don't think dreams mean anything. You know you'd never be in a water filled warehouse with your kids. Like you said, stress, is a big factor.
