I bring:
-my normal clothes & workout clothes (I wear one; pack the other)
-normal shoes & workout shoes (wear one; pack the other)
-shower sandals
-tolietry bag (for soap, shampoo, etc)
-towels
-lock, workout log, ipod, etc.
My stuff barely fits into my bookbag. I'm curious what everyone else brings, as most people semm to carry much less stuff than me!

Some gyms will let you rent a locker. That would help cut down on some of the things in your book bag. Or maybe just get a bigger gym bag and not a book bag. Either way I think everything you're got there is actually the essentials if you're going to shower there.
When I worked for the YMCA I would just keep most of that stuff in my office or in a locker that I rented. Oh, yeah...to answer your question I bring almost all the same stuff!

U sound like u're going on a light trip. Learn how 2 pack! I don't know if you're coming from home or work. What u carry sounds okay except 2pair of shoes/wear the workout shoes. Why not wear your workout clothes? U don't really need the workout log at the gym(make your notations when u get home.) LEARN HOW 2 PACK 4 THE GYM.

I just go to the gym in workout clothes and bring an ipod and a small towel, plus deoderant. I keep a larger towel in my car that I use if I get overly sweaty. I shower at my home before and after workout.

I bring myself, an iPod and water. Why would you bring extra clothes and shower stuff?! Shower and change at home! You are there to workout!

gym bag with includes my training log, powerlifting shoes, wrist wraps, 1/2 gal of cold water and most importantly my trusty MP3 player
