I have a headache, but I can only find one paracetamol and one ibuprofen in my drawer.
If I take one of each, will I get the same effect as if I took two of the same?

Yes - OK to take them both - it is fine to take paracetamol and ibuprofen together even at the highest safe dose for each.
I have often taken two paracetamol and two ibuprofen at once and i was instructed to do so by a consultant if the pain got very bad
as long as you do not exceed the safe dose for either and only one of each will not
The two together will probably work better than two of either

yes, you are fine taking these two together. Often, if I have a severe headache, I take two paracetamols and two ibuprofen at the same time.

It'll work fine. When I had my wisdom teeth pulled out, the dentist told me to mix them up when I became tolerant of 2 paracetamol. Although admittedly my kidneys started to hurt after a while, so don't overdo it!

i have been told to alternate between the two sometimes when i have had a severe fever. they are 2 different drugs and can be taken together. you should get some results but dont know how good.

Its not the same, but is acceptable management and hopefully will fix the problem.
